I hope they add more scenes of walking to and from landing platforms.  One can never have too many of those.

And more dialog detailing what a character has done, is currently doing, or what they will eventually do.

Vader: "Alert my star destroyer that I have turned off my lightsaber"

"There's no cluster of midiclorians that controls my destiny!" -Han Solo, from a future revision of ANH

Or Lucas could add Boba Fett/Jango Fett to episode I, currently the only film Boba does not show up in.

I remember when he was put in star wars special edition and was like WTF.

If shaw was replaced in the 1997 version of Jedi i would have walked out of the screening i was at.  Same for Jango fett's voice in empire strikes back, or jar jar in jedi..

Another problem i see is that because of Episode II and III you have Darth Vader in 5 of the six films/movies, the only one where Anakin remotely is like a person who is not an evil asshole is episode 1.

Never mind that in Episode II and III vader without the suit is not the badass villain but an emo whiny kid, whom you actually are glad is left in the lava in episode III.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

^What a terrible line reading.

I guess you could do better?  I guess then they would have to add you to the OT.  That would be ... interesting.

The idea of adding additional colors to the stormtroopers scares me.  Although it wouldn't surprise me.  An elite squad was sent down to Mos Eisley to find the droids.

They could replace that one pasty bounty hunter in Ep 1 with Jango.

The options are unfortunately endless.

Why did she never get the significant role in AOTC that was hinted at by Lucasfilm? She'd have made a far better assassin than the INCREDIBLY boring Zam Wesell.

Because in AOTC she gets caught and killed, while by 2000 she had her own comic series and was too popular to casually kill off at the beginning of the next film.

Lucas would never throw away a cool, popular character so casually.

*cough, boba fett, cough*

Boba Fett wasn't cool when he killed him in 1983. His cult status came about in the 1990s, at which time Lucas decided to make him the central figure of the entire Clone War plot.

Fair enough.  Would Darth Maul be a better example?  While he didn't have a chance to develop in the movie, the marketing machine had him hyped enough.

This will be an unpopular post, but I'm most likely going to buy the new set.

I happen to enjoy the prequels in proper fanedited form.  And I've heard rumblings that a few editors are considering going back and redoing their edits in HD once the set is released.

If that were to happen, I'd probably buy the set so I could download the edits with a clear conscience.

But the clone war cartoon is bringing in Darth Maul's brother, Richard.

Has the pre-ESB mania been forgotten already? The fact that millions of fans didn't lapse into comas in 1978 during the Holiday Special, because of the cartoon segment that introduced Boba? The screams of anguish because Kenner denied us the god given right to shoot our eyes out with our "free" Fett action figures? ;)

And Boba was cool in 1983. His going out like a punk was razzed by fans at the time. Marvel resurrected him mere months after the movie came out. Sure, they had to put him back in the damn Sarlacc again, but that's beside the point.

I'd say it was more like just after TESB and in the mid-1980s following ROTJ, since his action figure was a favorite of mine and many of my friends.

Boba was also among the few SW action figures Elliott showed to E.T., and referred to by name.

Yeah, I'm not saying Fett didn't have his niche by 1983, but it was nothing like what happened in the early 1990s, the fact that Lucas sort of tossed him aside is a good indicator that it clearly was not a pressing concern. While by 1984, Boba Fett had been resurrected from the Sarlac in the Star Wars comic series, by 1996, Boba Fett had his very own comic series. Looking at merch is a good way to guage popularity, and in 1980 there were a few Fett things but by 1995 he was the poster boy for Star Wars Chic where his status was cemented, I mean it almost seemed like his image was more popular that Darth Vader, which is amazing considering he's barely even in the films. Lucas tried to win some major cool points with the fans when he revealed at this time that Fett would be in the prequels.

LFL knew they had 'something' when they made Boba.  Having your main villian walk side by side with a no-name, today that wouldn't happen with it being the DV saga, but back then he could have been the new badass bad guy.

That's an amazing find. Empire was still in pre-production when this was taken. I had the impression the Fett costume wasn't aged and painted gray until it was at Elstree.

Somewhere there's a transcript of Lucas' appearance at the 10th Anniversary Con, and his answer to a fan question about Fett seemed to show his lack of awareness of the cult following, IIRC.

If he says there will be several Howard the Duck sequels, then it's the one. ;)
