Yeah, for a start the TIE Shuttle (a deleted scene from ANH) could be replaced by a Lambda shuttle cause we don't see enough of them ;)

Nice! That scene was made by my friend Brad and me about a decade ago. The Tie bomber opening was stolen from Troops and the dub of Chief Bast was done by me.
Importing footage from other sources may work in limited doses. I guess it depends on how radical you want to make the edit.
Ziz, I think you have the right idea. I would just be careful the matte replacements don't look too good.
Sluggo, found that clip whilst searching for TIE Shuttle on Google, nice Aussie accent!!

You don't even have to fully replace the mattes, just play with the color balance and border blending between matte and live action elements, and maybe add some minor activity off on the edges...birds flying by or some such. "Adywan-ize" them, so to speak.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
One idea I had years ago is to edit all the Wookiee family scenes as if it was a sitcom, add subtitles and a laugh track, Brady Bunch style music, etc.
Malla: Lumpy! Take out the trash!
Lumpy: Why do I have to take out the trash?
Malla: Because I said so! Or I'll spank you so hard, the fur on your butt falls off!
It would need a new title though. Life with Lumpy? All in the Wookiee family? The Chewbacca show?
Where were you in '77?
Leave it to Lumpy

The first ten minutes of Wookiee-speak is one of the funniest things you can watch while high. Almost The Room levels of funny.
Agreed! And we both edit ROTJ too, maybe we are the same person? Lol
I watched it for the first time today, thought of cutting out stuff here and there. Some or should i say most of it was stupid, especially the intro in fluffy speak.. lol

Seriously.
Cut it down to 60 minutes and it may not be all that bad.
At least one person already has.
Once upon a time I saw something called "The Ruthless Edit" that came in at a few minutes under an hour. And it at least was a version I felt safe sharing with a few friends, didn't worry about their coming back to hit me (or worse).

Brad and I.
Yeah... that was me - "The Ruthless Edit". It was my very first attempt at a fan edit and is pretty rough, but much more bearable, imho.
Someone here who teaches (?) a class on film ended up using it in his class iirc ... but that has been a long time ago.
There's a lot that should be changed, but with a bad source it's a bit like Dr. Frankenstein's assembly project and we all know how well that turned out.
sorry I've not been here in quite some time - was mostly just following Ady for a spell and then he also set up shop on Facebook.

Really? All the bizarre spelling and grammar by kenkraly and haljordan, and this is what you pick on?
*shaking head*
Just poking fun. interacting with those other guys sure doesn't seem like fun.
Bast sounds more filtered than vader. Good effort though.

No, the original grammar was correct. Because, you would say "...made by me", not "made by I". "Brad and I" would only be correct if it were at the start of the sentence.

Right. Since Sluggo used a passive rather than an active verb, the appropriate form of the first person pronoun is accusative, not nominative.

Active what?
;-)
Take that, Ringo!
So is this Ruthless edit out there?
Dude, I wasn't serious
*goes and cries in the corner*
Actually, I suppose I should've been more specific. The leading verb's voice itself doesn't make the subject's case accusative. That would still be nominative. But in Sluggo's sentence, the construction "Brad and me" isn't, in point of fact, the subject of the sentence. "That scene" is the subject. "Brad and me" is the object of the preposition "by." And always remember, kids: prepositional objects always occur in the accusative case. So, yeah, Sluggo was correct. And Ringo was wrong. But, as it turns out, he wasn't serious in the first place. You should know better, Ringo; grammar is not a thing about which to joke around!! }:(
(I would've said "not a thing to joke around about," but I'm sure one of you smart asses would've corrected my error of ending a sentence in a preposition. Prepositions, as you all know, are not words with which to end sentences.)
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Star Wars Holiday Special banter...

Hey I just had a radical idea or an edit of the Holiday Special. What if Lumpy watches some Star Wars cartoon instead of the Jefferson Starship so it will be kind of like when he watches the Boba Fett cartoon later. For the Star Wars cartoon, he could watch a clip from the animated series Star Wars: Droids or some clip from The Clone Wars series (kind of like an educational program about the clone wars, maybe with new narration). Although, a weirder idea would to have Lumpy watching the Princess Leia's holographic message from A New Hope...(just kidding)
That's not a bad idea. Sluggo approves!
Yes, that's the only way to save the Holiday Special.
Here's one step further: Start the movie with Lumpy sitting down at his viewing machine, and then play a completely different movie like Ben-Hur or something.
EDIT: As the movie plays, the wookie's head appears in silhouette and he grunts during the funny parts.

Ben Hur...LOL...How about Metropolis or the Hidden Fortress? After all, they inspired Star Wars. The wookie silhouette sounds like how Mystery Science Theater 3000 was.
