Got something you want to say, but don’t feel it warrants its own thread? Say it here! 😃

I’ll start…

The pilot light went out on my furnace two days in a row. Everything checked out fine, so I guess it was a fluke. I had to re-light the water heater too cuz my dad turned off the gas going to it. Yay.

Eek.  We have a Honda Odyssey that we bought thinking it would outlast a KIA that was half priced.  So much for that idea!

I mean it runs... after a $2,000 tranny replacement that they all need every 20k miles or so.

^That's horrible. I hope my tranny lasts as long as it's supposed to. :p

I bought 9 vinyl records at $1 a piece today, tax included. It's a fun new little hobby of mine. Best vinyl purchase so far was the original 2 LP set of "Star Wars"...for 25 cents! In very good, nigh unplayed shape!

Heh, sorry about that. ;)

One tip is, if you live in an area with a Goodwill or Value Village or anything like that, go check for vinyl. So far, other than a few on eBay (which were still cheap), I've never paid more than $1 a piece at thrift stores.

...BUT, disc 1 has a chunk missing from it. :(

That's what I half expected with my set, but no. The covers are in very good shape for their age and normal usage, but the discs look like they were played maybe once? :p Same with a copy of the 2001: A Space Odyssey I got the same day, also for a quarter.

Next up will probably be some from my grandmother, including Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass' "Whipped Cream and Other Delights":

My high school math teacher sold a bunch of her old vinyls one day, including that Star Wars LP, which I acquired. :D

Not only did it look brand new, but it also contained the original poster, info sheet, and T-shirt order form!

Whoa, that picture is making me hungry for some whipped cream.

Reminds me of a memory that came up last night. My mother used to have a catering business and when she made cakes, she'd usually cut off the edges. Instead of throwing them out, she'd cut them up, put them in a big bowl, then add whipped cream and a few cherries. Messy, but delicious!

Now that people are more comfortable with the whole gender issue, you can usually get that done for under $799.

There is a naked woman burried in several gallons of whipped cream... and it reminds you of your mom feeding you cake scraps with cherries?

No, we were talking about her catering business at the dinner table and how adding the whipped cream will prevent the cake "crusts" from getting stale. What are you, some kinda sicko? ;)

I've just had a hell of a time.

My flight down to spend Christmas with my folks has been canceled and the airport and the flight company handled it terribly.

Gatwick was closed at 3pm but they didn't warn anyone got everyone into the airport, through a huge queue to check in, through security and waiting in the lounge before announcing a cancellation that the goon from Costa Coffee already knew about because he was taking the Mick out of us all by shouting taunts at us.

We were then sent down to pick up our luggage (which took two hours) and they changed  carousels without telling anyone (lucky for us someone noticed their bags on the the other carousel and alerted everyone.

Then we had to wait for 2 more hours in another queue only to have some woman come up with a piece of paper telling us that we can sort out a refund online.

Had to get a taxi back to Falkirk which cost £55 (the whole day cost about £100) and i'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get a train or flight at short notice (especially the weather keeps up).

So possibly Christmas is mostly cancelled in Chateau Bingowings.

Every muscle in my body aches from standing in lines with a rucksack full of smalls on my back but thank heavens for nice neighbours.

My next door neighbour came over noticing the lights on and keeping an eye out for intruders baring shortbread, rum and port (I'm hoping he wasn't planning on having a party with a bunch of hardened thieves)..

Every tale of woe should have a happy ending.

Ramdom thought:

Ripplin should really make a topic about his Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey LP's since I hear about them (third time now in 9 months).

Please don't forget to mention the weight, the elasticity, the precise lap time when you can hear a crack etc... :)

Other ramdom thought:

Why does a guy speak to me 1/4 French, 3/4 English when it is to invite me to be part of a french connection, and also when he tells me he speaks 3/4 French, 1/4 English !!?...

... LoL !

I never said that. I AM 3/4 French (both paternal grandparents), 1/4 Scottish (maternal grandfather).

Oh, and that was from a PM. You know, private message.

And who cares if I've mentioned my LPs a few times? If the situation fits, why not?

if what happened to Bingowings had happened to me, you'd all know about without me having to post about it cause you'd hear on the news about someone shooting up an airport and murdering some guy that works in Costa coffee.   That is just ridiculous, Bingowings.  I'm not sure who you can complain to, but you need to complain to someone at that airport about that.  Very sorry that your Christmas got spoiled, Bingowings.

Yeah, but I share my random thought of the moment: it deserves a topic. Definitively.

I can't tell if you're serious or not! Haha. But seriously, it might be fun to have a thread about our vinyl record collections. It's still a very popular format. :)

I'm always only half serious. I seriously don't take myself too seriously, if you prefer ;) (Remember... I'm Ric's father)

But why not... My last ESB restoration project has been mostly saved by the 1985 CD pressing and the 7FN LP's transfers... Do you believe it ?!! I think it's really not serious. If these transfers had no cracklings they probably filled almost the half of my edit.

ABC Ric's dad looks just like Kim Newman or myself circa 1993.

Thanks for the sympathetic ear Warbler and Ripplin.

Just checked the price of a last minute train £209 quid (return I guess) but times that by two and it becomes impossible.

What makes it worse is that if they knew we were canceled when they sent us through security they traumatised some wee girl by getting her mother to hurriedly get her woken up, out of her buggy, strip her coat, scarf and shoes off, mangling the head of her teddy bear in front of her face and frisking and scanning her mother with her screaming all the time.

I don't think David Lynch could create a more distressing scene and all for nothing.

The poor thing didn't have a clue what was going on.

Canceling a flight never nice but often necessary but why do they ask for our phone numbers if they aren't going to warn us of cancellations and why go through the stupid excesses (and I do think it's daft that they wont let you take a fountain pen in hand luggage but BA give you a glass bottle on the plane) of the security check if they know the flight isn't going to happen?
