We are happy that you receieved them KURGAN, and very glad you liked them.

It was a ton of work and we are proud of the results.

It took over a year a half to complete the project.

What did you think about the extras on the disc (extended fairytale ending, etc.?)

It's my birthday today - I feel old!

Some people emailed me with this question?

Does the Extended Zeist Version have the fairytale ending -

---Yes! and in widescreen -

First off I'm grateful for the efforts, and grateful for the folks who are willing to mail these out for free!

As for my feedback on the cuts:

To be honest, I always felt the "Fairytale ending" was part of the movie and should have been included (or the option to watch it WITH the rest of the movie) in either version.

The "extended Fairytale ending" was cool, but I could tell immediately which parts were fan made from the "Special Edition" cut footage (where Lambert is just on wires in front of a blue screen) because it appears purple, whereas the original (European theatrical/TV cut) footage was blue. So that could be worked on a bit.

I was glad to see all the Zeistian footage, some of it I hadn't seen in years, since my pan 'n' scan impulse buy VHS experience back in 1993! And there some I don't remember ever having seen before...

I wish somebody had cut the stupid "bang against the wall" scene. That always bugged me. Ah well. There's always "the Serious Edition."

What is it about this (bad) movie that keeps me coming back for more?

Ah well, D/P owes us for all the years of annoyance... fanedits keep it tolerable.

So great job overall, but a few tweaks and it could really be great!

It has been awhile since an update so here it is.

Phineasbg and I are finally going release Highlander II: The Quickening - The Restored Early European Version ( Original 100 minute International Version)

Some notes on this edit:

It was the first version we actually worked on together. We had to create this edit in order the finish the "Special Zeist Editon" and the "Extended Zeist Version".

This is a restoration of a film that only existed in a poor bootleg version that was passed at various sci-fi convention though the 1990's.

With help from various people from these boards we were able to track down some interesting versions and compile them to create this edit.

For the first time the film is in complete 2:35.1 and has a complete english audio soundtrack.

This is also known as the "International Cut" which was played in theatres throughtout Europe before the U.S. Re-Cut.

In the ealry 1990's this version of the film was put together by the director and the producers with funding from Nigel Entertainment.

Finally we all can see Highlander II as the Director and Producers intended it to be shown.

Our Release date is September 7th 2007

More info coming soon!

It finished dl'ing yesterday and I've kept seeding it.
I'll keep on seeding it but pause for a bit later on so I can make a DVD of it. I'm still seeding the other Highlander II versions made available earlier as well. They deserve that since they are probably as close to the original intent had they've had the opportunity to finish and edit it as they had planned.
Now I have nearly all official cuts of all the Highlander movies.

I was able to grab the Early Euro and Special Zeist versions fairly easy, but Extended Zeist took me over a month to get. (Thanks goes to the seeder!)

I was quite surprised at the Extended Zeist dialog differences. I think some of the music cues were different as well, but maybe I'm thrown off as I watched part of the film on a different system.

Anyway, a terrific job guys! BTW, what's the difference between Special Zeist v1 and v2?

At the time we created the Special Ziest Edition we didn't have a widescreen transfer of the original European -AKA: International Version, British Cut. Later, when we finally finshed and released it we came across ( with a little help form a few on this board) a widescreen transfer - Bad thing was it that the colors were not that good and it was horribly greenish. We then had to restore the transfer, color correct and insert the finshed product into the full frame scenes fro the Version 1 - Fairly simple my partner said. So to sum it up - Version I - had some full framed scenes - Version 2 - is the full on widescreen aspect throughout!

BtW! Thanks for the kind words, wait until you see what we are working on now, it's not Highlander releated but it's coming soon!!

Now on
WIKIPEDIA -

Some one posted this about the Extended Zeist Version - very cool!

Some time after the 2004 version was released, a handful of fans took scenes from all three officially released versions, as well as the deleted scenes, and edited together a well crafted fourth version of the film that ran for nearly 2 hours and contained all the new Director's Cut footage but retained the Zeist aspect. In addition to the Director's Cut footage and Deleted Scenes, they also took the well known Fairytale Ending and incorporated it into the end of the film.

THanks so much to Phineasbq and Co for making available the Zeist cuts. H2 is one of my favourite films now with the zeistian stuff making sense. I really like all the extra stuff that's in the extended zeist version although i do prefer the updated effects of the special zeist edition, but the best wrap is with the fairytale ending.
I was abit puzzled why the special zeist version couldn't have all the extra footage, including the FTE in it, but probably due to technical reasons right?
Anyway it's all good, real good. The echoes of the original script are a lot stronger now and makes for a great ride.
Cheers guys.

I came across this topic while searching for the Extended Zeist Edition of Highlander 2. I bought the "Special Edition" of Highlander 2 last week because it looked great. I was dumbfounded that the story had been altered. I understand that most people hate the Zeist origin story, but it should have been left untouched as every movie since has ignored this film and it's no longer cannon anyway. I was looking the movie up on the IMDB forums when I seen a post about the Zeist Edition and then I seen it mentioned again on the wiki for Highlander 2. Can anyone help me out with a DVD copy of this "Highlander 2 Extended Zeist Edition"? Send me a pm if you can help and we'll work it out. This is the second site I've joined trying to get a copy. (fanedit.org was the first place I located it.)

Cost to ship the disc. He was nice enough to offer me a free copy as long as I cover the cost of shipping. It's really appreciated too, as this was not available for download anywhere the last time I looked.

I got my copies today and I decided to start with the Special Zeist cut of the film and was very impressed with the work that you all were able to do on this. The cuts from the Zeist footage to the Special Edition footage were seamless and the audio dubbing was spot on. This is the first fan-edit I have ever viewed so I will admit that I was expecting VHS quality picture and horrible jump cuts, but this disc really blew me away. Thank you, this is the version of the film that should have released and I think that is the best compliment that I can give you. Anyone who is a fan of Highlander 2 (all 10 of us) really needs to watch this cut of the film.
