First off, the reason for this posting is to talk about the multiple edits and versions that already exist of this new highlander film.

And also, with my involvement with future fan edits of this production.

For info on the official production, you can google “Highlander: The Source” to get to the offical production page.

This posting is NOT for talking about how to get the Russian Cut torrent of the new 2007 film.

I’m sure you demons know how to search.

First off, I have not yet seen ANY cut of the film, but did read the official story treatment.

My hopes for an enjoyable NEW Higlander Film are not too high at this stage.

Over at the official “The Source” web page, they have a note to fans:

Any version of Highlander: The Source that is currently available is not the final producers’ version of the film. Peter Davis and Bill Panzer of Davis/Panzer Productions, the producers, in conjunction with Lionsgate Entertainment, are presently editing and remixing the film. This final cut will be delivered to Lionsgate on or about March 15, 2007.

Lionsgate will be releasing the film in September, 2007.

In other words, they are saying that any version that is out on the torrents at the moment sucks, and we are trying to save it the same way we did Highlander II!

The official release is set for September in the USA, and that is another bad sign. A September release is a well known low confidence vote from the studio.

Yes! I agree with you Fanfiltration. It seems like there was a good movie there but once again they screwed it up, much like Highlander II.

Did you ever check your PM's about the press kit?.

Once the American Cut of Highlander 5 comes out someone could create an edit, one that sticks by the scipt

first of all if an edit of "Highlander: the source" is done, you've got to replace the soundtrack, by the original Queen's songs.
Take a look at this review.

This new trilogy also seems to be compromised with Bill Panzer's death.
I 'm tired of all these films made in Vilnius for an handfull of euros and no scenarii

the Anime "Highlander : the search of vengeance" promise to be more interesting.

Just had a preview of the (NEW) film, and I have to say it was as bad as I knew it would be.

Oh My God! The cover versions that are used of the Queen songs are just so horrendous!

I'm sure that Freddie Mercury is rolling in his grave.

This film needs a major re-shoot!!! With what they have now could possibly be re-cut into a decent Highlander T.V. movie, but that's about it.

I will say nothing of the plot. We will save that for after the official release. What I am going to say is that the film has an incredible lack of production value and it SHOWS and hurts every scene. This is direct to video quality type product so far as I can see. The fights are cut like the "Die Another Day" ice car chase. It's all done with editing tricks and, we get no ground breaking sword work at all. This will most likely be voted the worst adventure in the entire history of "Highlander" by most fans.

Why don't they learn?

Adrian Paul looks great (even in the cheap costume), and it's too bad he is not getting better roles. He "phones in" his part much as he had done in season 6 of the show.

Two part Episodes of the series had much more going for them. "End Game", the last film in the Highlander Film series was so much better then what I have seen in my preview of the "The Source"...

But again, this is still not the official edit of the film...

It was the official edit of the film until Lion's Gate complained. This is the cut that was sold to international distributors including the Russian company that issued the DVD that found its way onto the net.

no new shoots have been done, only cgi and some dialogues are corrected in the new cut

did someone also realize that in the new highlander 2 dvd set, the french dialogue still make reference to zeist

That is sad news about no re-shoot.
As it stands, this film is missing some major "Highlander" type elements.
The most important being the trademark Historical Flashbacks. Yes, they have a few quick flashbacks, but they are not done in the same way.

Most fan reaction I've seen seems to lean towards the 'official' version being even worse than the Russian DVD.

It's so stupid that in the final fight, Our hero does not even use his (or any other) sword! A major element of Highlander has always been Duncan's sword, and his fighting with it. But now in this shit film, Duncan does a silly double knife fight in the final battle! This film was just CRAP!

Every other Highlander movie stands so far above this poor production.

The Source was one of the worst movies I have ever watched.
Even I love cheese movies but this just goes beyond cheese.
Freddie Mercury must be rolling around in his grave.
Evil character looked like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.

It's not the worst film of all time, but it is a disappointing entry into The Highlander cannon. Highlander 2 had a budget, and a motivated creative team behind it. That is why that film has become more movie nostalgia to me. H:TS was shot like a T.V. episode and that's all it will ever be to me. Despite the pipe dream of it's Director (he must have been smoking something), and the Producers, It's only a T.V. movie. That's how it was presented to be viewed by the public, so to hold it up to the 4 Highlander feature films is not appropriate.

OK, for the historical record... Indy 4 is not only better than Highlander: The Source, its CITIZEN KANE in comparison to Highlander: The Source.

Hell, even Highlander 2 is better than Highlander: The Source.

The Source was a franchise killer. The movie was actually so bad that it cut off Highlander's head, consumed its Quickening, and then lost its own head in some freak trainwreck/disaster. There is almost nothing to be salvaged from this movie, and I was in pain the entire time I was watching it.

Just my opinion :).
