Dune - The Third Stage Edition  is a fan attempt  to create an extended version of the theatrical release of the film.

This version attempts to remain faithful to David Lynch’s vision.

David Lynch - Dune: The Extended Lynch Edition

Pre-production and concept-

We are beginning to discuss this project and all of us that are involved at one time or another has created and edit of it.
What we are discussing is creating a Extended theatrical edit of the film. This edit will include the extras footage from the telvision cut as well as some of the extra deleted scenes that have been released on the latest DVD.
This version, much like the Highlander II Extended will include many differences.

We will be using an early script/ draft as a blueprint for this edition.

  • The theatrical audio will be used unless impossible (note: there are some footage from the television cut that has some beautiful audio, after some research we have concluded that it may have been originally intended in some seems)

  • The theatrical video will be throughout

  • The blue within blue eyes will be rotoscoped on all extras footage (note: we are also going to enhance some of the eyes, some scenes are too dark blue, others are light blue, we will make all the eyes look the same)

  • Colors of the desert will be enchanced so that all the sand matches the Televison and theatrical and deleted footage.

  • Extensive reasearch is being done by Oldbiff85/ myself on the direction David Lynch was going before the theatrical release. (Note: I am know this movie like the back of my hand, however we are digging for more)

  • Version that will be used:

Audio: French Theatrical Version, American Televsion DVD release.
German Paradise Group Restored television version, German theatrical Version. and a few other versions of the televsion cut and theatrical bits from various versions.

Video:
French Theatrical DVD Version, American Television DVD release
German Paradise Group Restored television version, German theatrical Version. and a few other versions of the televsion cut and theatrical bits from various versions.

And much, much more. This is just the tip of all.
