The Buzz-Droids are bad as well. As my son said, “Hey dad if they can get droids there can’t they get explosives there easier and cheaper?” I just sighed and said, “Yes son.”

That is awsome! I don't have kids yet, but when I do I am not quite sure how to handle the whole PT thing. My first impulse is to keep their existence a secret and never let them see them. But sooner or later they are bound to learn the truth. Maybe it is better to just let them see them, perhaps they will see them for the cheese they are.

Your son has given me hope in the younger generation Darth-Adriot.

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

We all go off topic from time to time. There is hope for every second-generation Star Wars fan so long as their parents teach them to think critically. A child that has seen a well crafted story, such as Star Wars, is quick to notice the failings in the PT.

AOTC: Anakin’s fall on Coruscant. He would need to use the force not only to slow his fall, but also to accelerate to about 195MPH in order to grab the sky-car without tearing his arms off.

Hehe, yeah, that one gets me too. In addition to that, though, is when Anakin loses his lightsaber. Obi-Wan catches it, puts it in the passenger seat... and it just sits there without any kind of motion at all.

Indeed. It’s just another example of George doing things because they look cool instead of thinking them through. He did it in the OT as well (burning Star Destroyers anyone?), but he seemed to keep the occurrences rare in those days. Well at least until Jedi came along.

I kinda liked that moment for that very reason; so casual, even though it is completely absurd--i found it, dare i say, clever.

The skydiving though is horrible. I just saw that the other day and had completely forgotten about it and was instantly transported back to opening day in 2002--"WTF??! Oh give me a goodamn break that is just stupid." I accept Kenobi falling 100 feet in TPM and bouncing back up equally as high, i can even go with Obi Wan diving out the window to catch the droid but Anakin skydiving through traffic and catching the car was just too unrealistic, even for a film with aliens who levitate people in the air.

I had a hard enough time with all the dodging and weaving through traffic and yet I could buy that when it was in a sky-car because it has been done before in the GFFA. I could even buy off on it if the fall was done like the one in The Fifth Element. In that film Leelu fell several stories before crashing into the back of Corbin Dallas’ Sky-Taxi. Still she was a super being and didn’t direct her fall and then land comfortably. She crashed through the fucking roof of the car and was “out of it” for a little while. Of course the entire sky-car sequence in AOTC seems to be a rip-off of the sequence in The Fifth Element. I could forgive that, but George took it a little too far over the top for my tastes.
