Idea: THE FUTURE OF STAR WARS PRESERVATION!

I am very excited about the OT DVD release in September. I was never too impressed with the fan preservations of the movies. Though I still believe the XO project has some value and promise.

The things that allways sparked my interest were things like “Return of the Ewok”, Building Empire, Deleted Magic. I think there is still room for quite a bit more preserving in the Star Wars “extras” category.

My dream preservation would be a DVD set of ALL of the Star Wars related “Special Appearances” which would include:
Muppets: Mark Hamil Appearance, Droids, Chewbacca
Richard Prior Show: Cantina Skit
Donnie and Marie Show
Driods on Seseme Street
Donald Duck’s Anniversary Special with the Droids
Bob Hope Special with Mark Hamil
Boston Pops with John Williams and Droids
Drinking and Driving Commercial of Cantina
Great Space Coaster: Mark Hamil Special Guest
SNL: Carrie Fisher Hosts

Etc. I know some have been released on DVD and some have been preserved but it’d be cool to have them all in 1 set.

Also, there’s the Droids and Ewoks Cartoon Series that is allready in Discussion.

A huge organized set of the many “Behind the Scenes” specials and such. I know there are some floating around but some don’t have the best quality.

There’s a DVD floating of all the Star Wars Comics, How about one on all of the Star Wars Related Magazines? I have Tons of those: Starlog, Fantastic Films, etc (not all though)

I think now that the OT is finally released, if we can focus on preserving the rest of the Star Wars Universe, we could get the best quality of everything.

Yes there’s still more work in the Star Wars preservation universe.

Two other things that would be nice to add to this is the Droids on Sesame Street and the droids anti-smoking PSA spot.

Oh yeah the anti-smoking commercial, forgot about that. And the Star Tours ride show with Buck Rogers in it.

Another Project I'd like to see is all of the interviews/special features on all of the different VHS/laserdisks put together on 1 or 2 Disks. I know the definitive LD has been well preserved but I haven't seen too much on the VHS tapes and their "special" features.

There's also an SNL where Bill Murray's lounge singer character does lyrics to the Star Wars march with more dignity than Carrie Fisher did.

I TOTALLY remember that skit! LOL!

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Rowman has recently done a good transfer of the entire Donny & Marie episode, for future compilations.

Really? Are these comics from the newspaper strip, the Marvel comic series, Dark Horse, or is it literally everything?

I'm not sure, I know there are several different Disks floating around with different comics on them. I'd love to see the newspaper comics once again. I still remember a terrible joke from one of them: "What's Chewbacca's favorite beer? OldmillWOOKIE"
