The same principle applies if one is not totally naked whilst engaging in what would otherwise be gay sex (ie if one is still wearing his socks, preferably really sexy thigh-highs).

Those blue socks were pulled up so high, they broke.

Maybe my standards are too high.

Well I wouldn’t say that, but I’m (debateably?) post-millenial so idk how much that counts.

Oh, I wasn’t trying to say that’s what you were doing at all. I was trying to be light and flippant but it may not have come across that way.

But since I brought it up, I’m demisexual.

Doesn’t sound that weird.

My parents’ response was “That doesn’t need a label, that’s just being normal.” Another close friend I told accused me of having an “oppression complex” because I was clearly trying to “lump myself in with people who have real problems” like gay, lesbian, and trans people.

Only one person actually understood what it meant and even said “Holy shit, that explains so much.”

Sounds like a real bosom buddy.

Mileage varies on the usefulness of labels. I don’t find any label terribly useful for myself. Everyone has their own levels of interest and intensity for sex. I don’t see any oppression complex in your identification, just the same desire to understand and be comfortable with who you are.

Didn’t you know that all gay people are HIV positive?

Jedit: Whenever I get a physical at my doctor there’s a little questionnaire you’ve got to fill out and one of the questions is “Have you ever felt any homosexual thoughts” or something to that effect.

I donated blood today and of course the survey thing said “do not continue if you are a male and have had sexual contact with another male in the last year” and, virgin that I am, I haven’t, but what kind of rule is that and what would happen if I did lie to them?

It’s because statistically there’s a higher risk of STDs, especially HIV, or at least that was the case 20-30 years ago.

Nothing would happen if you lie. They’ll test for all the different diseases anyway.

Actually, I’m no longer allowed to donate to the Red Cross because one of mine came back “inconclusive” for HIV. Doesn’t matter how many negative tests I’ve had since then (several), that one “inconclusive” disqualifies me from donating forever. Fucking stupid.

I’m going to be completely honest, I can’t complain that an “inconclusive” HIV test disqualifies someone from donating blood. Better safe than sorry. And by the way this is coming from someone who also is barred from donating blood so I know how you feel.

I didn’t know that it was a thing. I’m not saying it isn’t. It describes me to a tee as well. You could show me the most beautiful woman in the world but unless Ive known her and connected with her or we’ve shared a personal moment or something it won’t matter to me. Probably why I’ve never understood sex appeal in movies before, I’m not going to find any of the actresses attractive because I don’t know them. If it’s story driven I will Probably liken them to somebody I’m close friends with in real life without even realizing I’m doing it.

Ive never known it as a label before I thought it was just the way I was. Huh, what do you know.

I give blood regularly. Apparently, redcross.org says I’ve donated 42 times.

What does that have to do with my post?

I’m not disqualified from giving blood, and I give blood often.

Try to keep up.
