Thank goodness I transcoded all my low-bitrate MP3’s to FLAC 😉

Argh! You obviously know me too well…I get bugged horribly by all the lack of fidelity from over loud commercials to bad broadcast audio-but especially the poor recording of many youtube uploads.

FLAC was a godsend when I first discovered it. And even though it’s inaudible and unecessary in my car-I still use FLAC and made sure to get a higher end head unit.

Dangit. The joke was that people would actually transcode their low-bitrate MP3’s to FLAC and think it would improve their quality.

I’ve known people who actually DID that, except instead of mp3 to flac it was 56 kbps mp3 to 320 kbps mp3.

I don’t know if things are better now, but back when I used to upload the Kitty Half-Time videos, YouTube was very picky about what was and wasn’t “high def”. I couldn’t find info on exactly what minimum resolution your videos had to be, but YouTube decided that my capture card’s raw output wasn’t high enough, and would automatically upload it all as 240p =|

This will complete my favorite trilogy and the one that means most to me. The more time necessary the better it will eventually be.

No, my work obligations and publisher’s deadline consumed my every waking moment. I just got my manuscripts submitted, and my wife and I are now taking 2 weeks vacation. When I return, finishing ROTP is the first on my list.

It has also been hosted (thanks, Frink!), and I have the links. Now, I have never distributed these works, and right now as I’m looking at several weeks of galley reviews of my two new textbooks, and the start of the Fall semester, I don’t have time to answer a gazillion PMs asking for copies. So, any volunteers to take on this thankless task?

I also don’t have a lot of time right now, but I do have enough time to say congratulations!

If you don’t get any other offers, my plate might clear up in a month or so, and I have some experience with answering PM link requests. But I’d hope we find someone who can do it earlier.

Great too the trilogy finally finished! I could start a marathon, it’s been years I’ve seen the first two on 16mm.
