Hey, it worked during the Cold War :-p

Any asshole that pretends to be shocked by this needs to shut the hell up:

We all know that this will continue to happen until serious action is taken in this country about our gun problem.

Nah, the response-du-jour is that we need to arm the customers. Surely the most logical path to tranquility in our coffee shops and delis, is mutually assured destruction.
"Close the blast doors!"

That’s a stupid solution. Democrats need to start saying that.

The Cold War was the height of modern stupidity.

It was an international dick-measuring contest.
It was an international dick-measuring contest.
I’m never going to one of those again! Fool me once…
To be fair, every war is rooted in stupidity.

Apparently Alabama celebrates “Confederate Memorial Day” today. Because of course they do.
.
That doesn’t surprise me at all.

To be fair, I’m not opposed to memorializing Confederate soldiers since a lot of them died and I’m sure plenty were decent family men. Japan and Germany do the same thing with their war dead from WWII, but I’m sure Alabama is actually memorializing the Confederacy so, as you said, “Fuck That Shit.”

Indeed. I recently watched this clip of Eisenhower, and he lists Robert E. Lee as one of four top Americans. This is the same man who integrated our schools.
Robert E. Lee is comparable to someone like Cecil Rhodes who is both impressive and problematic at the same time.

Even Eisenhower can be Wrong sometimes.
I say fuck any and all confederate apologia, but maybe I’m just sick of how pervasive it is where I live, and in my family where unverified oral tradition says I’m descended from a first cousin of Lee and my parents were called traitors for not naming any of their kids Lee. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
.
I would never name any of my kids after Lee Harvey Oswald.

I’m really glad Donald Trump isn’t in that photo. I wish the Carters were there though.

I echo those sentiments.
I’m always amazed to see a group of living presidents together.
I don’t think we’ll ever see Trump like this. He certainly won’t be joining the team. 😉
Where were you in '77?
You know that’s a bygone era when every president (except Carter) in that picture is now long gone.

Bush is still around.

Lmao I just remembered that super authoritarian troll named Yoda-Nazi who was here for like a day before being banned. Good times…

Hmm, what’s your source on this? It doesn’t sound trustworthy. :p
