IMO the bind you’re in is exacerbated by proximity. If you were living (just coincidentally) on the exact opposite side of the frikkin planet, it’d be a lot easier to keep your life going one way and your family’s understanding of your life going another.
Yes. This. Living with your parents exacerbates the problem.
I do assert that your relationship with God is truly important, but your relationship with Him is between you and Him.
Regardless, your parents being overbearing is not healthy. It doesn’t matter what they are being overbearing about. You have your own life and must find your own way. They can not be responsible for making sure you live your life the way they would have you live it. You have to do it yourself. Their doing it for you will only drive a wedge between you, and ruin your experience of whatever it is they’re being controlling about.
If you were a child, that is one thing, but as you approach adulthood you have to back off from them and make decisions yourself, regardless of whether they agree with the choices you make. It’s unfortunate that they themselves are unaware of this.
