"Slime and Gore"?! That had better be some wicked slime and gore if it's PG-13.

Hey Switch! Wanna save yourself some hell? Ditch Safari and IE and go to the Mozilla.org site and nab the latest version of the Camino browser. Best one I've found so far for Mac OS X. I'm running Camino v 0.8 (yes, that is the correct version number).

Just saw the film........ was not what I expected.... I'd give it a 3 or 4 /10 ......... For any Alien trilogy fans out there, don't get your hopes up to high for this film...... personally, I would wait until it comes out on dvd and borrow it from a freind.....

Yes I did. I posted my review of the film in here. About an hour later, Luke_Skywalker asked me (in the other thread) what I thought about the movie so I told him.

Review of this movie

Alien verus Predator is not as big a disaster as many critices say. It has its moments. Seeing the Alien and the Predator fight is cool. For those of you who don't like digital animation will be happy to know that they appear to do it live action whenever they can. The digital aliens also look excellent. Top notch effects. Any fan of the franchises will be entairtained seeing them fight. Still the movie is more flawed then good. By far my biggest complaint is its PG-13 rating. The mostly bloodless action leaves much to be desered. I am hoping for an R rated directers cut for the DVD. The movie was filmed as an R rated picture before getting cut by the dick ass studio. Im not saying an R rating would have made this a great movie but it definutly would have helped. Alien versus Predator is completly deviode of any suspense or any moments of fear. Characters are lame. Acting is lame. Even the great Bishop faulters. It also has many massive plot holes. Overall I do like Alien versus Predator more then the second two Alien movies. Still it isn't fit to clean the shoes of James Camerons masterpeice Aliens.

Studio didn't cut it. The PG-13 version is Paul W.S. Anderson's director's cut, so this is as good as it gets, much like the story of House of 1000 Corpses; Rob Zombie doesn't know if he'll ever get around to a more gore-heavy cut and in fact doubts if he will.

Thing about Alien versus Predator is that this movie has been planned since 1990. The movie isn't terrible but after 14 years of so many scripts you really think they could do better then that. I do like the idea of having Predators set up an Alien hunt with humans in the middle. Lets face it if they took the story concept and put it in the hands of James Cameron or any compitant filmmaker they could have had great results. As it is we have a below average movie thats enjoyable sometimes.

I wouldn't call it below average; it's still better than the vs. movie from last year (Freddy vs. Jason).

My opinion of the series

Alien - Sucessful creepy, suspense, thriller. This started it all in a good way - B+

Aliens - One of the best scifi action flicks ever. Great acting, great effects, great characters, just an all around great movie. James Camerons masterpeice - A

Predator - Great scifi military thriller. A very suspenseful and fun movie - A-

Predator 2 - Very underrated movie. A very action packed movie. Almost as good as the first - B+

Alien 3 - A failed attempt to go back to the first movies feel. Everything in the end falls flat - C-

Alien Resurection - Filled with plot holes and horrible acting. Still it has a couple good moments - C

Alien versus Predator - Seeing these creatures fight is fun. Its brought down by terrible acting, large plot holes, and its PG-13 rating - C+

Hey! I liked Freddy vs. Jason!

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

how on earth could anyone like freddy vs. jason?

Also, I have a slight hearing problem and I couldn't always get what was being said. When you say plot holes, what are you referring to? If you mention them, I might just go " oh, yeah yeah yeah that was a huge one."

I found the movie lacking in alot of areas myself. Like you said, no suspense or feelings of fear. The acting was pretty stale. not much strong expression. The only exception are certain moments for the lead heroine. You didn't get to see the aliens that much and the queen fight just went by too fast. It didn't have the same build to it as Aliens.

I personally think that it would have done better in a jungle-type habitat. The preds seem to be the most comfortable in that enviorment. i also wanted to get some good info about the pred culture and homeworld as well as the aliens homeworld. Fox just doesn't seem to want to do it right anymore.

Alien versus Predator plot holes

1. Acid blood that burns through metal barely makes a mark on the girls check

2. How could she hold the Aliens dead body without any acid blood causing you pain

3. It would take alot longer then that for the chestburster to come out

4. Considering how cold Antartica is its strange that the girl (Can't remember names) isn't bothered by it at the end considering how little she is wearing.

6. With all the Predators technology they couldn't find Acid proff shackels for the Alien Queen.

7. If the Predators have been visiting Earth for that long wouldn't there technology have improved greatly.

Thank you, Jimbo. I had no intention of seeing this movie. These plot holes you pointed out have reinforced that decision. If I want to see some Giger aliens, I'm sticking to Scott and Cameron.

Alien versus Predator is a moving briming with good ideas and bad excecution. Spoilers ahead. For example showing the beginning of the Weyland corperation. It missed a huge opertunity it had to explain why Wayland is so obsesed with finding the creature in the Alien Quadrilogy. I would have loved if it had done a momment like in the first Terminator finding the chip in the lab. Also the Predator without his mask didn't look right. In the Predator movies the predators mandibles appear like part of the jaw until the predator makes noise. Hear the mandibles still out of its face to a very unatural level. A minor complaint but considering how all the other creature effects in the movie were excellent its a shame. As all reviews pointed out the characters are flat. Not one has a single momment I would consider memerable. These people mostly excist as fodder for the Aliens and Predators to kill. I might be able to forgive all these flaws if it gave some nice gore. The PG-13 rating hurts this movie bad. Classic scenes like the chestbursting, Predator ripping out the skulls and skinning them, Aliens thruster there penis like tounges into peoples heads, all are absent in Alien versus Predator. If an R rated cut in givin for the DVD I might considering buying it for the fun of seeing these creatures fight.

Lance Henderson plays Charles Bishop Wayland. We are to believe that the Bishop robot in Aliens is based off this old business man. Unfortunatly in Alien 3 he already played the man Bishop was modeled after. So it doesn't make sense.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that Lance Henricksen's character at the end of Alien 3 was revealed to be a robot/synthetic after he gets hit with the pipe.

I thought the predators were pretty cool, and I liked the special effects. The rest of the movie blew ass. If Alien, Aliens, and Predator are the equivalent of the movie "Robocop", then Alien Vs. Predator is "Robocop: The TV Series". It was that lousy. I'd say unless you can't stay away, there is no reason to even rent in on dvd, much less see it at the theater.

In the comic series, the aliens acidic blood loses its acidity once the creature is killed. I think that's why those holes are there. I also saw that hole with the artic wear. I told my buddy while we were watching it that they couldn't survive that climate with that little on.

I had my own ideas about concepts for the movie. I even concidered writing my own script back in the early and mid nineties(sp?) . I might just write it now for skill honing now that it's been done. Same with Alien 3 and 4. Alot could have been done differently if only you scraped the stories.
