The first LUT makes for a gorgeous image. The second goes too far in many places from what I saw. The biggest issue is the crushed blacks throughout. But we got the first LUT which is a perfect correction in my opinion! And yeah, a new thread is probably a good idea if the discussion goes further.

Yep. Unlike the yellow, I do think the contrast needs shot by shot adjustment (or else just settling for the way it is). I’ve watched the UHD, and some parts, particularly indoor scenes, have excellent contrast.

The space shots all look like they’re being viewed from behind glass, like from a cockpit or something. The starfields are, obviously, not black and it seemed like there is a bit of a reflective haze (just lens flair?) associated with laser blasts and such. The look seems to be intentional, but indeed different from all of the previous films.

In terms of comparing it to how things looked in the theater, I think it’s probably not possible to make a good comparison about projected black levels vs. television. But the colors, whether we like them or not, seem to me absolutely what I saw on the big screen several times.
