Why hasn't Ian McDiarmid returned to Star Wars?

Save for maybe David Prowse, it seems that everyone even tangential to the Original Trilogy has made their reappearance in Disney’s new lineage of creations. Even Ewan McGregor had a line in TFA. I can understand holding off on Hayden Christensen, considering his shying away from the industry as a whole, but why not McDiarmid, someone who is a giant in the franchise’s legacy? James Earl Jones himself returned for Rebels, and yet Sam Witwer stayed on as Palpatine. Of all the chances given to legacy contributiors to reprise their roles, why not give one to him?

Hearing Ian again was a real treat. I thought the guy that voiced Palpatine in the early seasons of TCW did a fine job, but after his death Tim Curry and Sam Witwer never really worked for me. Nothing beats the original recipe, though (and yeah, I know, Clive Revill is actually the “original”, you all know what I mean).

Rebels’ Sidious is kinda weak and doesn’t work. Didn’t like the Ian episodes. He deserved a better last contribution to the Saga…

I don’t think I’ve ever heard you with a positive opinion of anything, so that’s not saying much.

Ian McDiarmid returned to portray the Emperor in the final season of rebels.

In which he was utterly fantastic. It’s such a creepy, almost horror movie portrayal (I found myself doing the classic “no no no don’t trust him!” thing a couple times). Perfect Palpatine.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Hmm, whom to believe, Mala or Tyr…

I heard tyr once ranked a movie as low as 3, so unless mala has rankes one even lower… Oh wait.

I saw that clip, it made more sense than both Return of the Jedi and the prequels.
