AND THE ARTICLE TALKED ABOUT A LICENSE‽ SO IS THERE AN ACTUAL LICENSE FOR ADMINISTERING CORPORAL PUNISHMENT‽‽‽‽ WHAT THE FUCK‽

AND THIS IS A POLICY THEY ADOPTED NOT IN 1805 OR 1905, BUT 2005‽ AND “UPDATED” IN 2012‽ THE ONLY WAY TO UPDATE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS TO GET RID OF IT!

EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN IT AND EVERYONE ON THE SCHOOL BOARD NEEDS TO GO!

I’ve been told for years that it’s perfectly legal in this state to do it as long as it isn’t hard enough to do visible damage (like a bruise). It’s stupid as hell, I know, and my school hasn’t used it in years, but down here all the rednecks think violence against children is perfectly fine. After all, why else would adults give the school all that sweet, sweet ticket money than to watch kids guve each other concussions and broken limbs.

If a teacher used “corporal punishment” on one of my children for exercising their right to free expression, I would stick my thumbs into that teacher’s eye sockets.

I’m really glad you said eye sockets.

I had forgotten corporal punishment is still a thing in some schools. It was done with the parents permission which maybe should be more surprising. I don’t see the value in this punishment in schools but maybe I’m missing something. Be nice to have more information 😉

I am having difficulty thinking of how more information could change how this looks. But I am always willing to listen more information and will not accuse you of standing up for the school or accuse you of sticking your fingers in your ears until you hear one nugget of fact that supports the possibility that they did no wrong.

More people should appreciate that about you. I can’t help but tease. It sounds like this “swatting” was mild, conducted with oversight, and approved by the parents (and the student has no problem with it) so while surprising I’m not outraged. Also, I’m not against spanking in principle, such as when done by parents, but I don’t see the value when done by principal or teacher.

Thankyou. That is appreciated.

The student probably had no problem with it probably because it he knew how it would look and he wanted the school to look bad so he agreed to it.

Schools shouldn’t be doing it at all. The risk of abuse is too high. The risk of going too far is too high. It also seems to an inappropriate form of punishment for schools to be handing out in this day and age. Also if it is true that schools punish black students more often and more harshly than white kids, the existence of corporal punishment in schools would make the problem much worse.

I’m sure there’s details that determine the level of barbarism here, but there’s nothing anyone can say that justifies corporal punishment in schools. Just like how it doesn’t matter what any apologist cop says when an officer shoots an unarmed hostage or little boy in a park to death. Sure maybe there are certain degrees of criminality there, but the situation is vile no matter what. There is no need to analyze every detail to come to that conclusion.

I don’t see much value in a parent physically harming there child either, but I get that that’s a different situation.

you’ve got the wrong person with that quote. I didn’t say it, Mrebo did.

I hope you didn’t miss my first post when I found about about the school using corporal punishment.

Just like how it doesn’t matter what any apologist cop says when an officer shoots an unarmed hostage or little boy in a park to death.

how many more times are you going to keep going back to the cop shootings?

You should never be on a jury.

I also used the wrong spelling of “their,” but sorry. I don’t know how that happened.

If I were on a jury, my opinion on how vile something is wouldn’t exactly matter, would it? I’d be there to determine if the person was guilty or not of certain crimes based on the evidence provided.

What would matter is if you could keep from judging the defendant before all the facts are presented.

Well for now on I am just going to ignore it whenever you try to bring in our debates about cop shootings.
