People are upset over that??? I’m old enough to remember a really bad rendition…
[pic of Roseanne]
I won’t link to any actual video, because it would violate the Geneva Convention. 😛

Piqued my curiosity, so I watched it on Youtube. Yes, that was awful, but not as bad.

First, either Roseanne very obviously can’t sing so any attempt by her is going to be bad, or else she was deliberately butchering it. But she’s Roseanne, so what do you expect? Second, she sang through it really quickly so the pain of listening was not drawn out.

Meanwhile, Fergie is an accomplished professional musician. She can sing well, and she should know better. She didn’t butcher the song by sheer lack of effort like Roseanne; she tried to sing it this way. She practiced it. She even had an accompaniment track. Plus, she sang the song sllooowlly, and gave listeners time to realize their brain cells were dying while the torture was still less than halfway over.

NPR had this on the radio the other day (i forgot about it till now). They also seemed to think it important to make everyone listen to clips of both performances. I did not appreciate them for it.

they should find someone with ability to sing it, someone whose singing style fits the Anthem sung straight. The Anthem is not rap, rock, swing, or Jazz song.

I entirely agree. Sing it straight or find someone else who can.

I entirely disagree. We should just stop signing the national anthem at sporting events.

I’m late to this discussion, but I agree. It has nothing to do with sports.

It will the end of an era if and when they go. If you were a '70’s kid, going to a TRU store was a unique experience. They had everything you could think of. The older store exteriors were colorful and stood apart.

I was at a grand opening for an L.A. area store when I was little. I think the Banana Splits were there.

Remember when Star Wars had it’s own aisle?

Still regularly shopped there well into the 90’s. They had about the best videogame selection back in the day.

Last time I was in one, I was looking for Star Wars Viewmaster reels, and had to explain to a confused employee just what Viewmaster is. 😕

As long as I don’t have to stand. The flag worship always reminds me of when I was forced to go to church on occasion as a kid.

No pre-recorded shit, either. It’s got to be a live stream every time.

Evil flight attendant murders dog. Here’s to hoping the person responsible does the world a favor and dies soon.

I would love to know all of the facts. I am pretty dogs aren’t supposed to be in the passenger area of an airplane at all. It certainly makes no sense that if dog were allowed in the passenger area, it would have to be kept in the overhead compartment. I think normally pets travel in cages in the cargo hold and not in the passenger area. Just what killed the dog? Being put in the overhead compartment, while maybe a little scary and uncomfortable, would not seem to me to be fatal. Weirdness.

Much like when a duo of murderous cops terrorize, psychologically torture, and then murder an unarmed man, I don’t really care too much what other little tidbits the story entails.

I didn’t keep the link, but from what I read, the dog was in an approved bag and all other rules were followed for the dog to be able to stay with the passenger, who was supposed to be allowed to keep the dog under her seat. The dog was also a puppy, less than a year old, and it probably just suffocated in the overhead compartment, which doesn’t get much air because it wasn’t designed to store living things.

If the dog was supposed to be allowed under the seat, why would they tell the passenger to put it in the overhead compartment? Just for the fun of it??? I don’t get it.

Because they’re stupid, evil, or both. It really is that simple most of the time.
