Han and Leia and the whole family soap opera were (among many other ranom elements) a big distraction to the plot. It is better for TLJ plot that they are not in the film any more.

I was convinced Leia would be in IX via footage from the prior films, and honestly, to an extent, I still am. The film’s still early in development, so despite what KK says, the plan is still likely subject to change. If they don’t include her, it’ll just be one more thing to add to my list of changes to make in my edits. Killing Leia offscreen between films like this is just unacceptable, regardless of Fisher’s death.

There really isn’t much they can do unless they make another Rogue One Tarkin. I’d rather have her go between the films and really focus on Poe as the new leader of the Resistance/Rebellion. He can talk about her and stuff. Oh and maybe we get Poe/Connix?
Also Kylo will never get to see his mother again. He will be all alone, and the last Skywalker. Make lemonade out of lemons.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I’d be interested to see Lourd get a sizable role. She went from one line background extra to one of the most prominent members of the Resistance in TLJ. Would be cool if she became a legit character.

In the scenes where Leia was unconscious, was it Carrie herself laying down while Poe, Finn and Rose talked? I seem to remember someone saying it wasn’t her, or that she wasn’t there at all and it was CGI or something.

Were there any re-shoots after Carrie passed away? A stand-in (real or otherwise) makes perfect sense for certain shots either way. No studio pays actors to lie down all day anymore than they do for shots where a character is seen from a distance or from behind.

Certainly nothing on the level of a Rogue One, but every movie ends up requiring pick up shots to some extent. No way of knowing if any of them had to do with Leia, and that doesn’t even matter honestly because, even if there was, it’s basically impossible to tell from the finished film.
