If hyperspace is a fifth dimension, why would Han to worry about flying into a star are too close to a supernova?

This is why official canon is dumb. Just go by what you see on the screen.

What is wrong with official canon if it maintains consistency and therefore believability throughout all movies referencing that canon? Not maintaining consistency on the other hand is actually dumb as it creates issues with the logic people have previously built around how such things work by what they were shown in previous movies.

Just going by what you see on screen is one of the many issues with TLJ, as it just expects you to go along with whatever it serves up with little to inadequate or no explanation as to why this is now allowed or works in this new way. For people who’s brains “checkout” when they sit down to a movie and just blindly accept whatever the movie shows them, this probably works though I’m sure many will process and think about things afterwards and suddenly think “hey, that doesn’t make sense!”.

But if your mind is actively processing what the movie is showing you in regards to your current knowledge and memory on such things, it is constantly going “um, what? how does that make any sense!?” and can be very distracting or even jarring when trying to watch the movie, aside from the fact that it detracts from it’s overall enjoyment. If this happens to core elements of a movie’s story, characters or canon then it can downright ruin the movie.

What I’m saying is that it fails at that most basic task, as I explain very clearly: the idea of hyperspace as a 5th dimension (not in the movies) contradicts what Han says IN THE MOVIE!

I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Oh ok, I take it you are talking about official canon out of the movie? If so then yeah that is stupid.

When thinking about official canon I’m usually only thinking from the point of view of what the movies show us anyway.

If Rian Johnson can use a non canon book to justify an aspect of the Force in the movie, I feel I can use the official canon definition of hyperspace to defend (as opposed to nitpick) a much criticized scene.

He wasn’t justifying, he’s just showing that he didn’t invent it for those who were criticizing him for taking force powers out of his ass.

So he wasn’t justifying, he was showing evidence to prove his detractors were wrong about one of his decisions. Got it.

If we’re talking semantics here, I’d say he’s justifying his actions not excusing them.

Aye, a shame that. A decent and intriguing conversation though - fair play to him for the info on the deleted scenes etc. Came across really well - funny, relaxed and engaging.

Nice insights into what Lucasfilm scans the net for too 😃

Basically a guy took all the high quality footage from the movie that is officially available and put it in chronological order, as it appears in the movie. Pretty cool. The audio is pretty good too, with the music cues transitions not being too jarring.

I had no idea we had this much footage available.

Just a notice that the spoiler policy on TLJ will be lifted on Feb. 15th at 12:00 AM Pacific time. If you haven’t seen the movie by then…

Spoiler policy on the Han Solo movie remains in place of course.
