The OOT would make the perfect Criterion release. That way the plebs can have their version and we can have the historically important set. I would buy it for full MSRP on release.

I’d pay full price for that - ALIEN & ALIENS also.

As Criterion has a long relationship with Disney, anything could happen once the Fox deal is done. I don’t think they’ve ever done a 20th Century Fox film before?

Kagemusha was Fox IIRC.

The objective reality is that Rogue One was redone and the directors of episode 9 and the Han Solo spinoff film were fired for making something Disney didn’t like

A criterion release of the OOT, now that would be mind blowing

I think we’ll see world peace and a perpetual motion machine and cold fusion before that happens.

Disney did not make those decisions.

And the implication here, in regards to what this means for the story of TLJ, is pretty absurd, no? That Disney forced Rian to put in an anti-OOT subtext? This is getting to chemtrails levels.

Disney is gonna exploit all of Star Wars for what it’s worth. I don’t think they’ll disregard the OT and it’s multiple cuts

That’s true and hopefully after the Fox Disney deal goes through the government, Disney will most likely release the OUT in 4K and rerelease it in cinemas for like 2 weeks or something…

The SE’s and the OUT will do good together on the market

I totally misread that and for a second I thought you were writing something about the government releasing the OUT!

I really should wear my glasses more often.

You miss the point completely. It’s not an anti-OOT message. With TLJ Disney has made it clear, that it’s out with the old and in with the new. In that climate an OOT release seems less likely than ever before.

Who knows if TLJ is getting 4K Blu Ray Release then they clearly will have to release OT but in which format we don’t know

There’s a significant split in the fanbase, now that TLJ has been seen by the fans. No way are they going to solely bank on new films that many have zero interest in.

So OUT is now very possible now cause Disney has bought Fox which means nothing will stand in there way. Cause they already have ANH cause of Legacy Edition and could do ESB and ROTJ on there seperate 40th anniversary’s…

I’m not sure it has much to do with Disney or Fox at all. Lucasfilm under Kathleen Kennedy seems very focused on future projects (she has said as much in interviews); there doesn’t seem to be much interest in OT projects from them right now.

in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity

Well if there relasing TLJ in 4K then they will have to do the OT in 4K but which versions we don’t know only time will tell I think it will be OUC “Original Unaltered Cuts” cause they have Legacy so why not use it

It’s just frustrating because none of us are getting any younger…
