penomnis. (which isn’t in the dictionary but is a derived from the latin prefix “pen-” (eg. penultimate) meaning almost, and “omnis” meaning all, so it could valid, albeit people wouldn’t know what you meant by it since it’s not in common vocabulary.

I think it’s ‘pen omnis’ (two words) - my Latin is a little rusty - though still remember the smack around the back of head when taking the mick, as young teenagers do, in Latin class many years ago.

Language is fluid. And this is the English language, not the Latin language. English often takes various words or parts of words and smooshes them together to create a new word. In effect, it is one word if we adopt it as one word.

Also, pen is a prefix. I would think saying “penomnis” should be two words is like saying “pandemic” should be two or three words (from “pan” meaning all, “demos” meaning people, and “ic” meaning pertaining to). But again, pandemic in our language does not mean “pertaining to all people”, it means a contagion that pertains to all people. So a word can mean what we want it to or be organized how we want it to.

You seemingly missed the part where I was referring to it’s use in a Latin class - in Latin. And, indeed, you’ll find many languages derive from others over time - English included. Possibly even words like ‘smooshes’ too 😉

Anyway, back on topic…

So we’re basically are still where we were before the Fox buyout, where we don’t really know anything regardng the OT and we won’t until either anything happens or nothing happens?

This should have been obvious right from the start of this thread, but yes.

Will we see the sale complete in 2018 or 2019? Also will we see a buffy and angel blu ray out of this?

Not soon enough for a Fox fanfare for ‘Solo’, but in time for one before ‘9’…

The only reason i asked was sometimes these deals finish sooner than the expected date. So it’s 2019 than no sooner? 😦

When can we expect Disney to buy Paramount so the next Indiana Jones Film has the Paramount logo?? 😉 KIDDING, kidding!

I think paramount retains distribution rights for future Jones films

Paramount is doing pretty badly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was bought by some other company. Probably not Disney though after they just got Fox.

The DE gets a mention here:

About time! Actually SW, the Fox fanfare and the DEs get mentioned. Here’s the excerpts:

Comics fans have focused on the deal allowing Disney to bring a few leftover Marvel characters and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope (including the 20th Century Fox fanfare) into the fold.

Shifting to a different universe of genre film, the deal would give Disney the one piece of the Star Wars puzzle that it didn’t acquire when it bought Lucasfilm. Fox’s original arrangement with George Lucas included the exclusive distribution rights to the first Star Wars film (which was later renamed Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope) in perpetuity.

With the rights secured, there’s a chance that Disney could put together a modern home video release of A New Hope — the original theatrical cut from 1977, not the special editions with Lucas’ much-maligned alterations, which is currently the only option. Purists can download the unofficial “Despecialized Edition” of the original Star Wars trilogy, but a fan edit, amazing as it might be, just isn’t the same as being able to walk into a store and buy a Blu-ray copy.

There’s also the matter of the 20th Century Fox fanfare, which accompanied the first six Star Wars films. The movies under Disney — 2015’s The Force Awakens, 2016’s Rogue One and The Last Jedi this week — open with a silent Lucasfilm logo. It remains to be seen whether Disney will bring back Fox’s iconic percussion-and-brass theme for future Star Wars films.

Even though there’s no guarantee it will happen, I think that since Disney has the rights to the logo and fanfare, I too hope they reinstate them with Star Wars; they’re just too iconic and synonymous with the franchise at this point. It’s just a wild guess but, knowing J.J.'s love for little details like this I believe he will likely push for its reinstatement for Episode IX, and one of two headlines will hypothetically appear:

“J.J. Abrams was responsible for bringing the Fox back to Star Wars”

or

“J.J. Abrams almost got the Fox intro for Star Wars Episode IX”

Either way I REALLY hope Disney actually let 20th Century Fox still exist as a separate brand once the transaction is complete, but I’m not holding my breath knowing their history.

What.

I’m too tired and lazy at the moment to photoshop something Star Wars related into a photo of Walt Disney so…

(Insert Image of Walt Disney in Vader helmet, Stormtrooper helmet, Jedi robes, etc.)

I’d settle for Paramount finally cooperating with Movies Anywhere…

Well, at least when the SEs first came out in '97, the last release of the originals was only a couple years earlier so it’s not like it was some giant leap ahead in quality. It was all VHS/LD, and both versions were readily available on the same formats in roughly equal quality. It was’t until the DVDs were released in 2004 that one version of the trilogy was suddenly in much higher quality and it really became a problem.

It would have been so great if the Unaltered Original Trilogy had been released at least in DVD quality on DVD. Instead of that laserdisc transfer thing they did on DVD. It would have made watching the unaltered version so much easier in a decent quality.

Though with Disney buying 21st Century Fox, then there really is NO MORE EXCUSES for not releasing the unaltered versions on Blu-Ray and/or 4K.
