MY thoughts on various changes

Star Wars:
-New Death Star attack cgi was good
-Recomposites of existing elements were good
-Minor non intrusive visual tweaks are neutral
-Biggs scene is good
-Everything else can suck a ball

ESB:
-Recomposites are good
-Ian as Emperor is neutral
-Minor visual tweaks are neutral
-Everything else can suck a ball

ROTJ:
-Recomposites are good
-Everything else can suck a ball

Discuss at length and argue for several pages.

Anakin’s ghost at the end of ROTJ should have had an 8-ball in the place of his head.

That’s not how it works. You need to say something ridiculous and then dismiss anyone else by saying even more ridiculous things.

It’s interesting to see how the people who can’t handle that different actors sometimes play the same character always want the OT to conform to the prequels. I don’t see anyone wanting a CG Clive Revell to replace Ian in Jedi and the PT.

The Person in Question

Why is a serious discussion happening in this thread?

The original Emperor from ESB is my favorite. I love the look and, even more so, the personality. Cunning, smart and sinister. I love Ian in ROTJ too, so I don’t bark much about it, but I really would have liked to see them stick closer to the original representation.

FTFY. Or do I have to make my own thread?

No we just have to argue about it for several pages now.

I honestly don’t have strong feelings of love for the Biggs scene itself either but it makes it a bit more connected when Luke gets worked up when he dies later.

I hate most of the other cgi added. It’s terrible. But Idk I felt like they did a better job on the Death Star. Minus the shock wave.

I love Ian as the emperor in ROTJ, he personified everything the emperor was, so that makes it worth having him in ESB. Yes I wish they’d have done his make up like in ROTJ but it’s still closer than having a different person altogether. The new dialogue is a bit strange but doesn’t bother me. And a grew up with the oot (faces) and didn’t really like the prequels until I discovered fanedits.

Now respond out of proportion and on a personal level.

Yes, you do. Everyone needs to make a thread for their own thoughts on various changes. How else would we discuss the individual lists?

Re: the Death Star sequence. The CGI isn’t bad, per se. The sin is the erasure of iconic shots. Mainly, the original “X-foils in attack position” is a phenomenal shot in original, even though the SE version is perhaps more dynamic.

The SE take off shot is just stupid, though, even if the original flying white dots were hardly iconic.

The actual approach to the Death Star IMO looks way more realistic in the original. The CGI version of the SE even with the one pilots head moving looks like it belongs in a Pixar movie.

I like the 1997 SLAVE-1 shot added to the junk scene. I’m surprised Lucas didn’t include a reveal of Needa’s body floating past too.

The shot would have been perfect if there were some more distance between the ships. The SLAVE-1 looked like it was trailing a little too close.

How come mace windu isn’t with the other Jedi in the celebration?

IMO I’m pretty disappointed that all the memorable characters from the prequels didn’t get a cameo in the updated Mos Eisley intro like Wado. Also, where was Dexter Jetster’s space Denny’s in Return of the Jedi’s end celebration scene? This is a glaring continuity error. Oh well, at least with Disney at the helm, we’ll get a new anthology film every year so we can get an overly elaborate back-story on every side character.

I guess he can’t be that memorable if you can’t even get his name right…

All the memorable PT characters got cameos during the opening flyover shot of ANH.

Then where’s Zam Wesell and Chancellor Valorum?
