Why is every producer/director reactive instinct to make an origin film? I dont have a problem with a Han Solo movie. But why an origin film?
The great thing about the Indiana Jones series is that they are 3 unrelated movies relating the tales of an adventurer. They’re not even in chronological order. I love Raiders of the Lost Ark above all films including any Star Wars movie. I find Temple of Doom and Crystal Skulls to both be much lesser films than the original. Yet they do not alter my opinion of Indiana Jones the character. And I never felt robbed by not being told the full extent of his beginnings.
I dont really need to be told how Solo’s past formed the character we encounter in the first Star Wars film. I just want to see the further exploits of Han Solo. I hate being told “you see, this is why and how Han Solo came to be”.
Not thrilled with the approach but I hope the film is still an entertaining ride.
