FYI! Netflix is now streaming Pre-Blu-ray mastered versions of the Back to the Future Trilogy. They have no DNR or EE, bttf1 has the pink wheels on the skateboard still, and NO “to be continued” tag, bttf 2 still has some nice grain, no temporal dnr, and NO “coming summer 1990” tag during bttf 3 trailer, bttf 3 has no temporal dnr. I hope someone is capturing this.

+1
I hope someone captures it too.

I’m currently in the UK; they aren’t on Netflix here. How are the colors in BttF 3?

Also hoping someone captures the Netflix Streaming in 1080p for Parts II & III for conversion to BD25. Unless if DCP also exists for them.
Love film grain.

If no one has done it by the time I’m back in the states (August 7), I can give it a go, but I don’t really know where to begin for such a project.

Let’s keep in mind that Netflix broadcasts in a bitrate that is approximately 3 to 5 mbps which is freaking low compared to the 25 mps you get on a Blu-ray. Then you just can’t download Netflix flux so that means capture and capture = dropped frames…

So, maybe a BD9/AVCHD? Best if someone had a fiber optic connection.

Hi I recently found this old thread,So I thought I would join & let you know
that back to the future is airing tonight on TCM http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/87363|0/Back-to-the-Future.html

TCM played this in 2002 uncut & unedited with no commercials in OAR

IMDB
In February 2002, Turner Classic Movies aired Back To The Future uncut, with none of the editing that pervaded the versions shown after the terrorist attacks of September 2001.

I’m assuming tonight’s will be the same.

What about film grain retained HD captures of Back to the Future Parts II & III? Would love to see both get BD25s with DTS-HD MA 5.1.
(Obviously with dubs solely being relegated to subtitles. Might want Japanese and Russian audio dubs though.)

tarman, just record it, it may be useful for some kind of project here.

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

Just a heads up for anyone who might be interested: Channel 4 (UK) are showing the entire trilogy over the Xmas period but they’re all in afternoon to early evening slots, so they’re going to be edited for content. Nevertheless, it might be worthwhile to have a look and check out the print, framing etc. in case they’re aired again during a post-watershed slot.

Also might be worth checking if they use the audio overdubs as well.

Hi guys. Not sure if it has been mentioned before in the 38 pages, but there’s a DCP-encoded-to-Blu-Ray of the first movie available which has a pretty decent image. You can compare it on caps-a-holic I think.

This should pretty much satisfy your needs for the first movie.

Very old news…

And not ‘pretty decent image’ but EXCELLENT image.

Someone posted on a spleen comment, I think, that decent HDTV captures of the non DNR sequels are on PassThePopcorn. Can anyone confirm if that’s true?

I suspect that C4 will mute the audio or remove the scenes entirely - as they’ve done with Avatar and Titanic every year. I haven’t seen any overdubbed versions of films on UK TV in decades. Nowadays, they just hack the film to pieces instead of buying the censored package.

JEDIT: I’m away from home and didn’t set my PVR to record them. If you do, please let me know about the quality and the edits.
