I should have posted one of the performances from Giants game… so I just replaced it in the above post. I like how he manages to take an ordinarily bombastic piece and turn it into a gentle folk song. It’s become a popular version in the bay area.
In the interest of completeness, I would be remiss to not mention that despite my being impressed with his version, he does commit perhaps the most common mistake - and one of my enduring pet peeves. He says “par-u-lis fight” rather than “par-i-lus fight”. I don’t understand why about 90% of people who sing that tune make that vocal spelling error. To me it’s like “nuke-you-lar” versus “nuke-lee-er”.
