I haven’t watched it entirely, but it felt the little cuts here and there were seamless and that they tighten the movie better (it’s far less boring). So indeed I think the movie is better in this shape (sadly most of my issues with this movie - the plot itself and the characters - can hardly be fixed with fanediting). Well done !
I would nevertheless also remove the opening scene to leave Jyn’s backstory only known by dialogues and flash-backs (why not even remolding the opening scene as a silent flash-back ?). I’m not very convinced by the text of the opening crawl. Too long and too pro-Empire (and a reference to the Clone Wars that ended a few years ago would be much welcome).
