If it’s any consolation to anyone, I only got 2.0 lossy DD audio, and my player weirdly scales the 720/24p up to 1080/60p and I can’t figure out how to fix that. I’m pretty amazed at what Harmy has accomplished, which makes me all the more ashamed.

I am appropriately ashamed. I saw an unboxing video on eBay and just kind of went off assumption from there. I should’ve known better. It just seemed the quickest way. Apologies.

It’s no consolation, but I will never do it again. I was ignorant, and went with what seemed the quickest option. I see now the error of my ways, and had I spent more time on the forums in the proper places, I’d have known better.

Probably no consolation at this point, but I’ll be sure to never again pay for a fan edit. Again, apologies.

Lesson learned, eh Mike? It’s really okay. The world won’t implode and I’m sure your actions will not call down the wrath of the god-mouse. Just ask for a little more help in the future and I’m sure someone will help you. Life goes on and we still want you around! 😃

I will ask for help in the future, and will also educate myself on some of the finer points of this stuff. I purchased a Blu-ray burner specifically for this purpose, but it’s a bit like a supercomputer in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to operate a calculator; I’m more than a little out of my depth, which is why I made this foolish decision.

Mike O,

Having purchased one of these custom DSE box sets from eBay, do you (or anyone else) know if it gives you any additional options or leverage via eBay to report this as pirated material and get the profiteering piece of shit in proper trouble?

Or does everyone think this would end up putting the spotlight back on us with the material in question being a fan edit that originated from a member here?

.Val

That’s a good question. I could certainly point out where I purchased it and let Harmy know. It’s the least I can do for penance. A friend of mine, entirely on his own initiative and without any encouragement from me, also notified me that he purchased them from another eBay seller. I just don’t know if there’s any way of reporting them without getting the community into more trouble, assuming I haven’t already.

I understand the anxiety over downloading these things, but I don’t understand how having it in your eBay purchase history is any better…

It’s not. I just wasn’t thinking rationally.

Anxious people don’t always act rationally. Or even logically.

^This.

Heck, everyone thinks irrationally at times. Like right now, do you honestly think he had any other motive for buying in eBay? Does anyone think he is trying to bring in a lawsuit or get this site shut down? Obviously, it seemed easier and safer (whether true or not) than a trackable torrent. Mike’s a decent guy and I hate to see him getting ripped over what was obviously a mistake.

Thanks, man. That’s kind of you. If it’s any consolation to anyone here, I do feel appropriately ashamed, and have thoroughly learned my lesson and will make sure never to pay for a fan-edit ever again.
