Those were hardly mainstream either. SRV was never topping the charts. The fear-mongering behind metal was mainstream 80s though.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and the birth of extreme metal (of which I don’t really like any more like I used to but it led to the birth of swedish and Finnish melodic death metal that I still love) are the only worthwhile things outside of Cinema from the 80s for me.

And this is why I won’t be leaving you my collection of leg warmers after I die.

SRV was pretty big man. Maybe not Madonna big but his albums sold like crazy and mtv played his videos constantly. I’m pretty sure his first album has even gone Platinum by the time his second one has even come out. I mean he wasn’t the biggest thing in the world but he was a big deal. By the time he died he was approaching Eric Clapton status.

I know. I meant that he’s not an 80s icon in the sense that he’s not beloved for representing the decade he was in. He’s a rock and roll/guitar icon, but not an 80s icon.

He’s too good to be an 80s icon, his legacy is timeless. His music has a unique quality of being timeless and ageless. His music always sounds current and relevant and there’s not a single thing about any of his track that would date it.

As much as I love led Zeppelin, even they can’t make that claim. While some of their music is definitely timelessly good, some of it definitely sounds dated and doesn’t have that ageless quality srv will always have. Some of their stuff will always be good but I can’t think of a single srv song that doesn’t at least sound relevant today even if I don’t like it. But then again blues rock is a more timeless genre.

You’re preaching to the choir man, I love SRV too. Clapton is my favorite guitarist, but SRV is up there with him. You’re definitely right about blues rock. Most of the Cream songs, especially Crossroads, have that timeless quality to them.

Less than two months until Season Two of Stranger Things comes out. Waiting hurts.

Hurts like being in the rack.

I hope the wait for Season 3 won’t be nearly so long.

The Duffer Brothers seem to be giving this a considerable amount of effort and unfortunately a byproduct of that process is that it takes a while to craft a story worth telling. And depending on where they’re going it may become increasingly difficult to shoot and edit the Episodes.

Final, Final day at my current job today.
It feels weird.
I did two ten hour shifts this week to clear my desk. So now I’ve kind of run out of things to do but a co-worker who is also leaving today and myself are really not sure what is happening next. very strange 😄

I hope you are moving to a new and better job and not getting fired or something like that.

The funding for our service came to an end and the organisation I have been in secondment to dragged their feet putting in funding bids. So I haven’t been sacked, my employers were very pleased with my contribution but I haven’t got anything to move onto. I’ve made lots of applications but nothing successful yet. To cap it off my partner has decided to move in the spring. He owns the house but I own the contents so that’s a added layer of stress I could do without at the moment.

I had a strange Mandela Effect today. I swore that the James Bond 007 thread was started by a different forum member than Fan Filtration. Funnily enough, he brought up the Mandela Effect in that very thread a while back. Also funnily enough, I just read that the Mandela Effect was coined by people that thought Nelson Mandela died decades ago instead of a few years ago. I never thought that and never met a single person who had.

The Mandela effect is all about the Bernstein Bears and you know it. It’s always been Stein. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it. But they claim it’s been stain all along but I’ll never accept that and there’s a large amount of people who have known it as Stein all along since childhood both in my life and over the internet. I have vivid memories reading those books in grade school like everyone else and it wasn’t stain you monsters.
