I personnally prefer the LD master that came out in letter box with the first DVD in which colors were even more natural I think.
May you get some screenshot comparison? I noted sometimes differences between LD and DVD color grading, but usually the DVD version was released several years after LD.
And yes, this grading is a lot better than 3D BD, which is overly teal.
