Starship Troopers (1997)

Great satire, good action. Nothing like the book but it’s alright in its own right.

Starship Troopers: Invasion (2012)

Pretty sure the announcement of this film took most by surprise. Heinlein’s original novel introduced to the world the concept of power armor, which had an immense impact on Japanese pop culture. So it shouldn’t have been much of a surprise that Japan’s resident expert mech/exosuit designer would want to take a crack at the franchise that started it all. Hence Shinji Aramaki’s take on the franchise which saw the re-introduction of power armour to the ST universe.

This film drops the satire for a more straight forward action story. And boy does it deliver on the action.

Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars (2017)

Shinji Aramaki finally delivers the definitive Marauder power armor experience straight out of the original novel. Lots of fantastic use of the suit mixed with a very nice script from the franchise’s original screenwriter Ed Neumeier.
