I'm not sure if the brightness IS too high - IMHO it softens the harshness/abrasiveness of the CGI in these two films and maintains a similar feel and look to the Original Trilogy. I don't know if Magnolia did this be fault or design - but I do prefer it this way (could be that my eyesight is just bad of course! lol)
