4K restoration on Star Wars — Page 222

Higher ticket prices go straight the the studios. That’s why snack prices are so ridiculous- it’s the primary revenue stream for most theaters, especially independent ones.

This. Movies like Star Wars, original Spider-Man, Pixar films see 80-90% ticket sales go directly to the studios the first 2 weeks. So, if you charge, say, $10 per ticket, you might make $200 per 100 tickets sold as opposed to the $800 the studio makes.

When the theater’s profit share goes up (40% in week 5), you are lucky to get 20 people per show.

I’m no bond expert. Why weren’t those two films included in the set?

Kind of a silly lawsuit, but imagine if somebody sued over the SE’s being passed off as the originals? 😉

😃 Good luck the the person who ordered the 007 boxset with ‘all’ the James Bond films in - companies should be more careful with the words described to sell their product to the public.

They aren’t made by EON like all others even though all of them are now owned by MGM.

They do actually have the list of films in the box that are included… The whole lawsuit is completely just being stupid.

It may be petty, but where do you draw the line? You can’t just say something is something it isn’t or that something contains things it doesn’t.
That the SE OT is now advertised and sold as just the OT bugs me…

Yet, it clearly states that:-

'Product Description

Collectible box set featuring all 22 James Bond films on Blu-ray disc in one complete offering for the first time.

Collection includes all 22 James Bond feature films from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace and more than 130 hours of bonus features including never-before-seen content from the Bond archives, and more.’

So ‘all’ means not ‘all’ - because there is a long list of films and bonus content afterwards? - which after seeing ‘all’ you probably wouldn’t read through that list as you’re already safe in the knowledge that you’re going to receive all the James Bond films in this boxset…

I think the lawsuit is quite petty - though if it results in companies have to be more accurate and careful in the way they word/sell their products then the better it is for us, the consumer…

That post is being as stupid as the person suing and nothing else. 22 isn’t 24. I cannot believe anyone is using any time for this, including the person suing.

A much bigger problem is the case for SW as nowhere is it being labeled as being the SE nor have the end credits been updated since 1997.

Yeah, the SE is different in that there is no indication on the packaging that the “Original Trilogy” isn’t original. For those unfamiliar with Bond, expecting the Bond collection to include the weird Casino Royales and Never Say Never Again is about the equivalent of expecting the Star Wars saga collection to include the Holiday Special, the Ewok movies, and the weird Clone Wars movie. Seeing as how the films are listed and the number of them included is spelled out on the packaging and description, this lawsuit is frivolous.

Given that those were still Lucasfilm-approved products (I think), I think it be more analogous to want a Star Wars set including Spaceballs and those Family Guy specials I see in discount bins.

I just read that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangera movie from the 90s got a 4K restoration…before Star Wars. We live in the wrong timeline.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

The more epic the movie, the worse it’s handled. That tends to be the rule.

I actually remember seeing the Power Rangers movie in a theater as a ten year old boy when it came out in '95. The movie itself had almost totally left my memory when I randomly caught it in hd on hbo one Saturday morning several months ago. The cgi looks terrible.

It was probably remastered to cash in on the new MMPR movie that came out this year.

I loved MMPR as a kid. The original Red Ranger was my first crush (Still is, total dreamboat daddy bear now). Its weird to me that it got a 4K restoration and showings in a cinema. That 2004 remastering is looking older and worse each year and nothing. Do they want them to match Clones and Sith in stuck in 1080p forever?

I never liked Power Rangers even as a kid. I only watched it 'cause it was popular and I liked the colourful outfits.

I now return this thread to discussion about Star Wars, already in progress.

I couldn’t get into MMPR too much as the gimmick of replacing the Japanese actors was bloody obvious. I had grown up with the likes of Ultraman and Jonny SokKo and His Flying Robot more or less intact in their English dubs.
Night Flight had already aired Dynaman a couple years before MMPR came out. It was a Super Sentai show dubbed ala What’s Up Tiger Lily? into a comedy, with a rocking 80’s soundtrack that almost guarantees it will never see a home video release. Interesting that MMPR never used footage from it.

I wonder if George ever thought about Luke and Vader battling with giant robots? 😉
