I was having early 90’s flashbacks watching the coverage on CNN today. I’m no legal expert, but they probably can’t consider his murder trial in their decision process, especially as he was acquitted.
They definitely can’t. He’s in prison now for armed robbery in which no one was injured, which is all they can consider.
I know technically they can’t consider it, but the law allowed them to keep him behind bars on the armed robbery charge much longer than they did. Under the law, they could have kept him in prison from a maximum of 30 years. Instead, they give him the minimum, 9 years. They could have given him more time.
I know, but I doubt that’s too uncommon in these cases. Keep in mind, I’m not happy about OJ being out of prison.
His cushy celebrity life is pretty much over. I imagine his legal fees have piled up the past decade. No sports memorabilia shows will touch him with a ten foot pole for all the bad press they’d get.
