Moral bankruptcy having been achieved long ago, it looks like Team Trump may be trying to drive the GOP into the more traditional sort of bankruptcy.

Another question is who will pay the legal fees for the president and administration officials involved in the Russia inquiries. Some in Trump’s orbit are pushing the Republican National Committee to bear the costs, said three people with knowledge of the situation, including one who euphemistically described the debate as a “robust discussion.”

You thought the guy with a long, consistent history of leaving a trail of bankrupt organizations and unpaid bills in his wake would make an exception for you guys?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/sources-trump-lawyers-knew-russia-emails-back-june-000320831.html

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s legal team was informed more than three weeks ago about the email chain arranging a June 2016 meeting between his son Donald Jr. and a Kremlin-connected lawyer, two sources familiar with the handling of the matter told Yahoo News.

Trump told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday that he learned just “a couple of days ago” that Donald Jr. had met with the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, hoping to receive information that “would incriminate Hillary” and was “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” A day earlier, on Tuesday, Donald Jr. released the email exchanges himself, after learning they would be published by the New York Times.

Trump repeated that assertion in a talk with reporters on Air Force One on his way to Paris Wednesday night. “I only heard about it two or three days ago,” he said, according to a transcript of his talk, when asked about the meeting with Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in June 2016 attended by Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, then Trump’s campaign chief, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

But the sources told Yahoo News that Marc Kasowitz, the president’s chief lawyer in the Russia investigation, and Alan Garten, executive vice president and chief legal officer of the Trump Organization, were both informed about the emails in the third week of June, after they were discovered by lawyers for Kushner, who is now a senior White House official.

In addition:

Aside from questions about the credibility of White House statements, the disclosure of the emails potentially has raised new questions about Kushner’s security clearance. He initially filed his SF-86 on Jan. 18, leaving out any mention of meetings with foreign government officials during the transition and the campaign. His lawyers have said this was inadvertent and that a member of his staff had prematurely hit the “send” button for the form before it was completed. Within twelve hours, they have said, Kushner notified the FBI that he would make amendments and disclose his meetings with foreign officials.

Nice, they can’t even figure out the ‘send’ button.

Keep in mind that if the FBI has you dead to rights on a serious criminal offense, they often let you retroactively clean up your paperwork (i.e. get legal) if you’re cooperating with the investigation/providing useful information on other high-value targets. I’m not saying Kushner’s cooperating, but he’s the latest in a string of Trump admin officials who have developed a sudden interest in getting their paperwork accurate & truthful at just about the same time their only other plausible escape route is a Presidential pardon (e.g. Flynn).

It’s also just as possible he’s following the family tradition of changing justifications every time he gets caught lying about the last one. But it’s an encouraging possibility–and we may never know what sort of deals were made–we’ll just see some people serving shorter sentences for less serious offenses than others.

That said, he could be cooperating and jockeying for a pardon, which is a pretty nonsensically over-the-top blinkered and self-centered chaotic fuck-everyone-else approach, which makes it a strong candidate in this instance too.

We need to pay attention to the fact that WOC [women of color] are being sidelined for this movement of powerful women in mainstream nerd media.

Great, now we’ll be able to openly carry schnauzers, sausages, shrimp scampi, and shish kebabs, without having to tuck them into our jackets, which will do wonders for my dry cleaning bill.

Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That’s politics!

Didn’t he say he had a council on who was to be trained in ESB though?

“My own counsel will I keep, on who is to be trained!”

Counsel =/= Council

That’s just an interpretation though. He could have full well meant council.

No. No!

Also, props to the dude with the first comment under the tweet, for not using “buried the lead.”

See this is the problem. If a black female was chosen, they would complain about Latino, Native American, Asian, Middle Eastern ect, women being sidelined. I guess they should have found a female, gay, transgender, part every race but white, person to play the new Doctor. But I bet then there would still be complaints about some group(not white men) being sidelined.

Alternate Universe Hillary is turning out to be a scary beast indeed! She conspired with Russian intelligence to influence US elections! She installed her daughter as an unelected placeholder-in-chief! She had a tiny, practically nonexistent inauguration crowd!

Although, to be fair, the past twenty years have largely involved attacking Hillary for doing things that she demonstrably did not do (Vince Foster, the Benghazi stand down order, Pizzagate, etc). Trump’s foray into this field is just lowering the plausibility bar to even more absurd levels.

Yeah but you’re still complaining.

I’m a white male so it is very difficult to plant myself fully in someone different’s shoes, but I’ll try. If I were black, I’d probably be tired of all the white characters. If I were female, I’d probably be tired of all the male characters. And if I were a black female, I’d probably be tired of both.

It’s called sympathy. I try to have some. Bitching about political correctness, especially as with something as trivial as a TV show, is the opposite of sympathy.

Having diverse characters in fiction can also help traditionally privileged people too, like white men. Maybe we’d have less sexism and racism if we expose people to this early.

Then it stands that the only way to make every group happy, would have been to make the next Doctor female, gay, transgender, and part every other race but white.

Doctor Who had been diverse, it had characters that were black, women, gay, it even had two black female characters.

You’re being purposefully difficult.

THE ONLY CHOICES ARE ALL WHITE MALES OR EVERY TYPE OF PERSON UNDER THE SUN. FULL PROGRESS OR NONE AT ALL!!!

Look, I don’t think you’re being a sexist pig. I think you’re just extremely rigid in your thinking and the fact that you can’t accept a fictional character changing is the problem.

Just because I complain about the changing of gender of character that hasn’t changed gender in over 50 years, does not mean I am unsympathetic to the years of sexism and racist that women and minorities have had to endure. But that doesn’t mean I have to approve of all the ridiculousness that extremists do. It doesn’t mean I have to agree with the changing of gender of characters that have been around for over 50 years. Also just because they didn’t chose a black woman, does not mean black women have been “sidelined”.

If I read that correctly, you’re saying people who want more women/minorities in media are extremists.

If you didn’t mean that, that was a very awkward laugh I just had.
