I love … Jan Svenknmeijer films
I was born in 1983. I lived in London in the eighties and met David Prowse at a video rental. He was wearing the Vader costume and picking people up by the throat for a photo-op. It was pretty sweet. I also took the playmobil knights and hospital garb and made Spaceballs playmobil with sharpie markers. I love Terry Gilliam films, stop motion, Evil dead, Beast Master, He-man (live action), Baron Munchhausen, Time Bandits, Jan Svenknmeijer films, The labyrinth, Goonies, Legend, Never Ending Story, and the Dark Crystal. I am making an edit of the Ewoks films. That is a controversial subject for “Star Wars nerds”, why? They are at least crappy stop motion effects movies? They are fun? Why then do the PT suck so bad? Wait… I hate PT… That’s my point!!? Justify…
BEWARE THIS SHOULD BE A SMACK TALKING, LIP SMACKING, PANCAKE MUNCHIN’, BEATOFF
245, OR 248?
A director makes 100 decisions an hour. Students ask me how you know how to make the right decision, and I say to them, ‘If you don’t know how to make the right decision, you’re not a director.’

You must be a 90’s teenager!

Justify why you have your opinion of certain episodes from the “Star Wars universe” as being canon (or worth watching).
Some of them are good.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Damn… you got me there…

More of an early 2000s teenager, actually.
Easy. The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi are in my canon because they fit in with the rest of the Legends universe. The Force Awakens and Rogue One are not because they don’t fit in.
To classify, my canon is basically the original EU without any events, references or characters from The Clone Wars TV show (that can stay in the nuEu, as it contradicts all the Clone Wars stuff from the early 2000s).
That’s not to say I don’t like TFA or R1, or even TCW, they’re all quite good.
Not enough people read the EU.
“Canon” means official canon as far as I’m concerned. Of course, I tend not to revisit the stuff I didn’t like, but I’m not bothered enough by any of it to spend the mental energy on curating my own version of the timeline that no one else will share. If I didn’t like the new films I’d probably be singing a different song, but as it is I’m on board.
As far as Legends goes, I do tend to assign more value to the stuff that came out before NJO.
I have a personal hybrid headcanon of various Legends and Official Canon material. It’s all documented and color coded on a Word document on a flash drive. It’s fun, in an almost sad or pathetic way.

If you care about ‘canon’ of a fictional universe, you’re either a teenager, or I feel sad for you.

That’s an extremely stupid thing to say and I don’t even care about canon.

I’m glad its several people’s jobs to keep track of these things then.
Can you ever just let people have fun?

Fun is if you want to talk about your interpretation of Star Wars or compare or contrast it to that of other people. I’ve seen people say things like “their own personal canon” and that’s fine. Saying there is something like an official dictate, or worrying about it, even for a unified work composed by a single person, is stupid. Stories are meant to be interpreted.
It’s even more illogical when you consider the story of Star Wars has been written by many different people–sometimes not in collaboration with each other-- and has a million plot holes and retcons.

Again, it’s several people’s jobs to try to keep that from happening in the Disney canon. There is an official canon. People accepting that is more logical than having a head canon.

Don’t, I’m absolutely sure that I derive much more joy from Star Wars than you do.

As does a good 99% (rough estimate) of everyone else here.

Where were you in '77?

Your read is off and you’re not being objective. I didn’t say anything about the OPs post or the substance of his post, which I actually said is fine.

This just shows how irrational you Disney people have become. This place is turning into TFN.
I’m pretty sure this is an imitation of some of you:
Look how irrational you’ve become.
TFN rose from the dark side. OT did not.

Just so you know I don’t really care about canon, official or otherwise. I’m at the point in which I don’t even try to make it all fit into a collective story. But the petty, infantile amount of ‘hatred’ you have inside yourself and the compulsion to make it known to us is ironically something of note. I can’t even feel sorry for you as I revel in the fact that you will be afflicted with whatever ails you until the day you die. To me that’s a fate far worse than death; the fact you can’t even acknowledge your faults only exacerbates the joy I get from knowing that.
Anyways, keep doing you I guess.

Calling someone immature or pathetic because they care at all about official canon is shitposting whether you like it or not.
Alderaan suffered a lot you know. ALOT. Being blown to pieces by Baron Frankenstein and stuff. We need to be understanding.
