Help Wanted: Ideas for an Ewok edit to fit into TMBTM's "War of the Stars" Universe.

I am going to undertake a project to combine both Ewok films’ and ROTJ’s footage into one grindhouse style movie. I think it would just suck any other way. The loose story being that the marauders are bounty hunters working for the empire, with the battle footage from ROTJ as the climax. The galaxy is coming to their world for the first time, beginning with the ship crash that leads to the bounty hunters looking for survivors because they have “something” or are important for X reason. Anyone care to help flesh out a plot and/or suggest footage?

Edit:
After Going through all of my cut footage. I think I have a more cohesive flow. It makes more sense and I can use the ROTJ footage better if I have the Marauders living on the planet and they are contacted by the empire to find the missing girl. Also no Noah and his stupid speedy thing. I am using after effects to add gore, and creating a crawl to explain the shitty back story. As of right now this is how I think it will go.

  1. Cindle crashes on Endor. Her father will be edited as to be her body guard escort.
  2. The king marauder gets a message to track down the girl (the scene with the paper in his hall)
  3. The scene where the king lets the sorceress out of her cell and she turns into a bird.
  4. Now she is the bird from the beginning of Battle for Endor and tells the king where the ship is.
  5. The Marauders find the ship, kill her bodyguard and she runs away.
  6. she stumbles upon wicket.
  7. There is a travel montage. Maybe some of the hang-glide stuff cut from both.
  8. They are being hunted by the beast at night. using footage from the beast chase in caravan and the first carriage escape from battle Endoor
  9. They sleep in the tree. the Ewoks rescue them and they go to the village in the morning.
  10. Ewok stuff happens
  11. Landing of a search party by rebels.
  12. Mace is captured by the Ewoks while looking in the wreckage of the ship.
  13. Mace finds Cindle at the Ewok village.
  14. The Ewok village is raided and cindle and some Ewoks are captured.
  15. They are imprisoned at the castle.
  16. The castle is cuts of Jabba’s palace and the castle combined.
  17. mace and the Ewoks go on a trek to save Cindle , caravan of courage.
  18. they infiltrate the castle through the tunnel.
  19. spiders.
  20. Rancor spliced with, Gorax footage and footage from wicket fighting the dragon thing. There are bones there.
  21. they kill the rancor and make their way into the castle to rescue Cindle.
  22. Cindle is rescued. they escape.
  23. using scenes from the bracelet health thing I am editing it to be more of a communicator/Homing beacon.
  24. more rebels arrive.
  25. The marauders all come for the attack.
  26. the battle is footage from the beginning of battle for Endor, RTOJ, and the end fight from battle for Endor.
  27. no storm troopers though. edited for rebels & Ewoks vs. Marauders.
  28. edit so wicket fights the king at the end not Noah.
  29. ROTJ party.
  30. Cindle says goodbye and takes off with the rebels.

There will be adjusting for sure. Any thoughts?

Neat idea! (Especially since *Battle For Endor uses deleted scenes from ROTJ.) How do you plan to deal with the aspect ratios? I don’t think there’s ever been a widescreen release of the Ewok movies.

That’s one reason I think it would be best to do a grindhouse version, I can use 4:3 ratio, and make it look like a bad bootleg vhs. So I guess it wouldn’t be as much of a “grindhouse”, as a foreign exploitation straight to vhs import from the late 70’s.

Have the marauders been on Endor for a while, or are they newly arrived in your version?

Newly arrived, searching for Cindle. They shot her ship down and need to capture her for the bounty. In the early current stage of my plot there are no parents. Cindle is already orphaned. I am trying to figure out why the bounty hunters are after her. Right now it is that Cindle is some sort of important figure for the rebellion, maybe she can control the force or is a “princess”, last surviving member of her family. I also have it so her brother doesn’t find her till later in the movie. He is captured by the Ewoks when he “discovers” Cindle’s crashed ship while looking for her. Then taken to the village, where Cindle has been staying. I am trying to figure out how I can make it so he is trying to find her for the rebellion, and not be her brother. He is so young, I don’t know. The Gorax at the moment is not written into it, just his beast. I am trying to work in Tatooine scenes from Jabbas palace in conjunction with the rocky desert scenes from caravan of courage. When they enter the tunnel it takes them underneath the palace, they fight the spiders and then make their way to the Rancor. The rancor fight is spliced with footage of the gorax fight. I have some ideas that have Luke tied in, but it might break it. I will see. I still need help piecing it all together and fleshing it out. Any and all thoughts are welcomed, positive or negative.

Sounds like you’ll need a spaceship crashing scene from some other movie then?

Yeah, I am trying to find a clip from another film. But struggling a little bit. I am looking for a ship or meteor, coming through the atmosphere and crashing in the distance. Like a streak across the sky, anything come to mind?

Remember the sequel to A New Hope Grindhouse? How it started with Vader falling from the space? Maybe reusing that shot? It could add to the “Grindhouse B-Movie” aspect.

I don’t really care if it’s in the shape of a movie, or a cartoon tv-series, or if it’s on videogames and books. Neither if it’s canon or legends; I love all my Star Wars (yes, even the prequels).

“Laugh it up, Fuzz ball.”

Oh wait, no, not all of it, don’t count the Holiday Special on it.

After checking it out again, not what I want. Something on the horizon making an arch across the sky. A landscape shot.

I am also on the fence about having a direct tie in with the empire and the senate. I was thinking of just one or 2 short scenes from the senate. But I need dialogue that would be relevant enough. Any about the queen or princess that comes to mind?
Also footage from any episodes including PT where Darth Vader or the Emperor are talking bout the princess and use the term “princess” or “Queen” anything pop out? thinking of using it for a hologram transmission to the marauder king.

How about the saucer shot from The Thing (1982), and the Enterprise burning up in Star Trek III?

As you’re going full frame, you can easily crop out (or erase) Kirk and the gang watching the ship burn up.

Great idea! I think I think I am gonna use some ET footage for some Endor scenes… no spoilers though.

Thanks! Racking my brain to think of a movie where a spaceship crashes in a forest, aside from Star Trek Generations. 😉

Senator Charal and her brave Bothan Spies are seeking information about the construction site of the Empire’s latest superweapon.

A misplaced signal sent by an incompetant young Rebel pilot breaks her cover and a crashed Imperial war criminal picks her off with the aid of locals pressed into service with the promise of eating a young female human.

I chopped this up. I think it works perfect.

I like it. Right now, I have a loose edit of the Star destroyer intro from ANH combined with some more star destroyer fight scenes shooting down the ship. Then use Star trek II crashing enterprise. The opening scenes for the wreckage and Cindle, then a transmission from the empire to the king marauder (I am dubbing most of his speech in the film with his alien speech and subtitling). I am going to make the movie about how the empire takes over Endor so it leads into Future in motion. So your idea makes sense.

This has turned into whole different project. I have decided to make a new trilogy borrowing heavily from concepts used by TMBTM’s War of the Stars. I have ripped all 4:3 aspect ratio DVDs of star wars 1-6 and both Ewok movies. I am going to rewrite the trilogy as an 80’s cyber-punk vhs series with a dark-synth sci-fi soundtrack. Making the Ewok films the second in the series. This enables me to rewrite it to make more sense. I think it will be a lot of fun, also I can edit them simultaneously as I cut and paste.

EDIT: Sorry about that, my A.D.D. kicked in… I am not starting a different project. I would never get anything done. I do have the rancor scene, the rat/wolf/cave-in chase, the hang glider scene, and the introduction, all finished. Moving along faster than I anticipated. BUT… When I am done with this I do have plans for an 80’s cyber punk re-edit of the OT… cut with Road Warrior (Mad Max), Blade Runner, and some more surprises…
