What John Landis’ story says to me is that George doesn’t mind the idea of the original versions being out there.
It’s not his money being spent anymore and that was pretty much the only reason we got the GOUT instead of an hd remaster like they did for the '04 set.
Now he has no reason to care.
I dunno… I think the reviews and praise for the original versions and the backlash against his SE’s could be pretty damaging to his hubris. He doesn’t seem to realize that HE gets the praise either way because HE MADE THE MOVIES. He’d just be mad because people prefer the original versions over his “new and improved” versions.
But I think he realizes that there’s not much he can do about that now, he knows the demand is there and he knows The Mouse will want to cash in on that demand.
At least I hope The Mose wants to cash in on that demand…
