Do you have yours? Impressions so far?

I do and while I can’t render judgement on the console itself considering it’s lacking a web browser and Netflix but as for BOTW my impressions are that it is fantastic so far. The innovation, the freedom you get (once you get passed the initial prologue area), and the attention to detail that gives the game way more depth than other Zelda games. I’m loving every second of it so far.

Agreed. It arrived on Saturday morning and I’ve put in probably 10 hours of playtime so far. Once I reset my expectations in terms of graphics (I do most of my gaming on a PC with a 34" ultrawide at 3440x1440), I really enjoyed the game. I’ve mostly been playing in handheld mode, partially because I think the hardware is brilliant and partially because it’s visually kind of rough on my 50" TV at 1080p (way too many jaggies and framerate dips). It was always my intention to collapse into a comfy chair with the Switch and take occasional breaks by standing, so I don’t mind. I picked up a Pro controller for console mode and it’s a nice controller.

I’m impressed by what Nintendo accomplished in a $300 package; just great engineering all around. I don’t agree with the US marketing in terms of it being a console that you can take with you, because not being able to hit a stable 30fps at 1080p in 2017 is disappointing. In Japan, it’s marketed as a portable that you can hook up to your TV, which I think sets more realistic expectations.
