That’s great! May you do a test using, for example, ROTJ b&w footage of the Rancor scene? Just a shot, few seconds, to see how it would look. THANKS!!!

@CarboniteSolo how big of a difference is it changing medium, coloring footage compared to a picture?

Sadly I’m lacking in any experience in terms of colorizing video, but I have done individual frames before…

I don’t know much about motion tracking, tho I assume if I just save my color values used, I could just do each frame from scratch (although I guess the unchanging backgrounds of shots with a still camera could just have color adjustments painted the same across frames.

I don’t have a SW example sitting around, but maybe I could try it sometime soon.

Here’s a test I did with an I Love Lucy still a couple months back. With SW tho, I could probably copy color values over from the other color scenes, so you might get more accurate and realistic colors.

UPDATE

OK, the project was halted for a while, but it’s not dead, at the contrary!

The project situation:

  1. I have now a much powerful computer; it should still be set up properly, hope it will be ready in few days; this means I could work on this project at a much faster rate, restoring a scene will take hours, not days (hopefully…)
  2. meanwhile I moved on some other projects, and learned beneficial techniques that I think could be used here as well
  3. an important project maker agrees that his work could be used for this very project (will disclose who he is at the right time); that would raise the quality of some shots/scenes a lot, and the overall importance as well
  4. the color grading: EP 7 is OK, EP 1, 2, 3 need just a small touch to get rid of the pink tint, done; EP 4, 5, 6 are the problems… we should decide which grading to use, and stick with it… so, GOUT? 1997 SE? BD “as is”? RaiTre? Technicolor?
  5. colorization of the b&w scene is important; few members would like to help, I’m waiting to receive test clips to post here and hear comments about them
  6. last thing: I must admit I underestimated the proportions of this project… luckily some precious members helped me a lot (thanks to all, you know who you are); still, just few things are done… so, any kind of help, from anyone, is really appreciated!

I don’t really care if it’s in the shape of a movie, or a cartoon tv-series, or if it’s on videogames and books. Neither if it’s canon or legends; I love all my Star Wars (yes, even the prequels).

i also have a couple questions so u r using adywans revisited for ANH ? what about the rest of 1-7 excluding “4”?
and adywan revisited is standard def right ?

also the “scenes that will not be used” in the first page, could u possibly put them in a deleted scenes section ?

Base for every title is the BD - unless the HDTV has better image or bigger frame (it happens in EP1).

Adywan’s will be used for some shots; even if upscale would be not as good as real HD, the improvements in comparison to original footage would more than compensate for this.

Unused footage: as these will not be enhanced, I don’t see the point to include them, as they are available in the respective DVD, BD or ebook.

But the great parts of unused deleted footage are just unfinished effects or cinematics, so I think they are not interesting for many but the die hard fans, who surely had them in their collections already.

the question is…why i´ve done this?
because i love this video.
how will it look in the movie?
so i´ve put all scenes from the gout and se in the lapti nek video for give them a higher look.
but you see,i´ve got very low skills in editing 😃
it was only for fun and i save all scenes from both versions to make it extented.

at the rancor pit i´m do only try to create a longer scene with the delet material…

but the lapti nek video would never release in the movie… 😦

So since you are using parts of ANH:R, does that mean you’ll also use the extended Alderaan destruction?
