Idea: If every Movie had a post credit scene

Anyone is free to try and make this happen, because I don’t have the prowess, but what if every Star Wars movie had its own post credit scene? What scene would you give to each movie? Personally, I think this would work great for ROTJ: https://vimeo.com/137925493
The deleted scene of Yoda on Dagobah would be cool for ROTS as well.

TPM: A Naboo street cleaner power washes the streamers and confetti away in a dry, boring way, while Jar Jar fumbles around in the background.

AOTC: The now disorganized droid factory keeps churning out battle droid heads that pile up and pile up off to the side.

ROTS: Clonetrooper using a dustbin to sweep up limbs and organs from the Jedi Temple floors.

ANH: On Dagobah inside his hut, Yoda stares out the window for a few seconds while a pot of stew simmers. He mutters unintelligibly for a moment before stirring his stew.

ESB: With the top down, Wilrow Hood flies along the underside of Cloud City in a speeder, ice cream maker in the passenger seat. A hand bounces off his head as it continues to fall.

ROTJ: Nighttime on Endor. A surviving stormtrooper sits behind a large tree holding his legs. He hears something, snapping his head to face the sound. Several ewoks descend on him and tear him apart.

TFA: In his medical capsule, Finn begins to stir. The lady doctor notices from her seat, and gets up. She holds a gas mask to his face, and presses a button. Finn slinks back to motionlessness as she says, “Not yet, you don’t.”

TPM at the bottom of the Naboo shaft Mauls lower torso smolders. Out of focus a red and black shape drags itself away.

AOTC Geonosis Anakin’s arm bubbles in a bacta tank. Behind it a red and black torso bubbles away as well.

ROTS After the funeral Padme is revealed to be alive and well but sad on Alderaan. A decoy died instead.

ANH. On A chunk of debris Tarkin activates an underfloor stasis tube.

ESB An Imperial droid lifts Luke’s hand and saber out of a cloud city vent tube.

ROTJ A cable is fired from the smoldering Sarlacc pit and something begins to climb out

TFA a salvage team looking for Kyber fragments find a chunk of debris orbiting Yavin.

Hmmm…well most post credit scenes serve to further the story rather than to distract from it. Adding Boba would be an error, imo. It brings in a distraction that is never resolved. As much as I’m supposing Hal’s are in jest, I actually really like the Yoda idea in relation to this concept. It serves as a teaser of things that actually will happen and be seen. Ultimately I’m not sure post credit scenes are appropriate for Star Wars movies.

TPM: Dooku discussing a clone army with Kaminoans (would make sense if Dooku were in the movie).
AOTC: The scene between Dooku and Sidious.
ROTS: A ~8 year old Luke sees Obi-Wan and asks Owen who he is. The two walk offscreen as Owen describes him as a crazy old hobo.
ANH: Yoda looking up at the sky, like HAL suggested, minus mumbling.
TESB: A shot of the interior of Jabba’s Palace at night, slowly panning towards a carbon-frozen Han Solo.
ROTJ: A hand covered in a black glove reaches into the funeral pyre and grabs Vader’s helmet.
TFA: Luke’s island, as suggested by Marduk and, in a way, DigiMod.

I might be a jerk for saying this, but I would never have a post credits scene for any Star Wars movie. Period. To me, post credits scenes are better served in Marvel movies where the whole point is to entice you with sneak peeks into future movies. It works in a comic book sort of way, since a lot of comics end with cliffhangers. Star Wars, while it does share influence with comics, is better off without them. The only place where it could work might be in The Mandalorian, but only because it’s a TV show that promises episode after episode after episode. But as for the franchise itself, it’s just three movies every 10 to 20 years. What’s the point?

I have altered Lucas’ visions. Pray I don’t alter them any further.

Similar to Hal’s:

TPM: A janitor presses a single easily accessible button in the generator room, which turns off the energy slicers. He walks down the hallway, scrubbing the floor with a bucket and a mop.

AOTC: A clone trooper approaches a small figure in the empty arena. “Hey kid, this is an active war zone. Come with me to the nearest…” The child turns and the trooper freezes, then speaks into his commlink. “Command, I have a five-year-old escapee from Kamino.” The child sighs. “Actually, we’re the same age.”

ROTS: Vader stares out at the Death Star construction. Finally he turns to an officer. “Gosh, I feel terrible for missing Padme’s funeral on Naboo. This must be how Clieg felt when my mother died. You know, I should really pay him a visit sometime. Life is so short, you never know when it will be too late. He and I actually have a lot in common now.” He looks down at his robot body. “On second thoughts, maybe I should just send him a card.”

ANH: Dodonna steps up after Luke and Han get their medals. “Okay, let’s pack this stuff up. The Empire is practically here and this ceremony ate into our time a bit more than I would like.”

ESB: Yoda and Obi’s ghost are sitting in his hut. “So how have you been, master?” Yoda putters. “Know, you do. Waiting, I was. Twenty years, I did. You?” Obi-wan nods. “Yeah, waiting.” Yoda sighs. “When did we give up on our dreams?”

ROTJ: The celebrations on Tatooine continue well into the night. A convoy of speeders filled with droids drives down main street waving CIS flags. “THE CONFEDERACY WILL RISE AGAIN!” A battle droid shouts, firing a blaster into the air. The cantina owner grimaces at the spectacle.

TFA: “Do you mind?” Luke asks. “I was just about to…” He gestures to the cliff. “Oh right.” Rey says, embarrassed and dropping the saber back to her side. “Maybe come back in a minute?” Rey nods, turning to go. “I’ll be back in a bit.” She looks around. “Looks like the sun’s coming out.”

TLJ: The Commission on Galactic Accountability denounces Hyperspace Ramming as a War Crime and labels the Resistance a Terrorist Organization.

TROS: The woman on Tatooine makes a mental note where Rey buried the lightsabers, returning later with a shovel.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

TPM: Dooku hires Jango Fett and then contacts Sidious.
AOTC: Anakin is knighted, as in Clone Wars 2D, or, Grievous is introduced at the aftermath of an undisclosed battle, carrying the lightsabers of fallen Jedi.
ROTS: Inspired by Obi-Wan’s broadcast, Bail Organa sets off to build the rebellion.
Solo: The Cloud Riders take the coaxium to Saw Gerrera.
Rogue One: Someone is watching the skirmish above Tatooine, later revealed to be Luke and his friends.
ANH: Vader learns about Luke’s last name.
TESB: Luke goes to Obi-Wan’s hut and crafts his green lightsaber.
ROTJ: Ewoks stalk some unsuspecting Stormtroopers that got lost in the woods.
TFA: The actual movie ends with the Falcon jumping to hyperspace. The mid or end-credits scene shows Luke standing over the cliff.
TLJ: Palpatine’s voice is heard through the radio on the deserted Crait base.
TROS: Not an end-credits scene but an extra scene for the epilogue: C3PO (without a memory restoration) asks R2 to retell him their past experiences, bridging the entire Skywalker saga together.

The level of pedantry of that last sentence is perfect.

Yeah. Star Wars movies don’t really work in the same way as Marvel movies, and setting up future movies wouldn’t work in Star Wars post-credits scenes. Cross-trilogy stuff, like RotS setting up ANH or RotJ setting up TFA, especially doesn’t work because despite the marketing, every trilogy is an entirely atomized story.

I still think though some scenes like Rey going to Ahch-To could be moved to after the credits, or a more light-hearted post-credits scene could work in movies like ANH, RotJ, TPM, or TRoS, but not at all in the other ones obviously.
