And remains as my favorite series and the best series of movies I have ever scene, and being a huge cinema nerd I think that is saying something. I, as countless others have done before, implore you to re release the original film in at least some form. |

Dear Mr Lucas, I have never bought any versions of the Star Wars saga since the original VHS versions pre special edition in 1997, which I purchased somewhere around 1995. If the original versions will as requested be released in high definition, I assure you that I, among others, will finally be delighted to buy the saga. I cannot see how it would be anything other than a financial jackpot. And I would, with tears in my eyes, for the first time in my life be able to get a glimpse of the experience of seeing Star Wars at the cinemas back in 1977. Please Mr Lucas. You're our only hope. Sincerely, Henrik Palm, Sweden |

You don't get it Lucas do you? There are as much OUR movies as they were yours. Maybe even more so. We want what we saw in theaters A long time ago. No CG, No Jabba in A new Hope, NO we just want Star Wars the way it was. And don't use the excuse Charlie Chaplin changed his films either At least The Gold Rush Blu Ray has THE ORIGINAL ON IT |

"I hope you have the courage to lead America in acknowledging the importance of American art to the human race, and accord the proper protection for the creators of that art--as it is accorded them in much of the rest of the world communities." George Lucas 1988 Please remember you may own the rights to Star Wars but there were many artists who participated in it's creation. Please honor them and release the oriinal versions of these films. |

As a 25 years old aspiring screenwriter I understand the rights of the creator of a work such as Star Wars. Indeed the original trilogy is very much what convinced me that a lifetime of storytelling is what I wanted for my future. As a student of film history I would deeply treasure high quality copies of the original works as they were seen by theater audiences so long ago. I also love history in all its forms, so to be able to go back in time and view these films as my parents and grandparents before did so would be truly special. My eternal thanks to you Mr. George Lucas for the work that went into crafting these cinematic treasures. Sincerely Andrew Webster |

Even if I thought the changes were improvements (which I don't; I think some of them actively harm the movies and I don't believe it's all nostalgia on my part), it would be a crying shame if the original versions were to survive only as the LaserDisc versions included on the "limited edition" DVDs. For my own personal use, those versions are fine. They look quite good on my smaller-than-a-ping-pong-table TV and I couldn't care less about Blu-ray, But I can't imagine it's good enough from a movie preservation point of view. |
