Nathaniel Lockhart | NY, USA | June 13, 2012 | George, I originally thought you were a misguided filmmaker who was errantly trying to fix what you saw as problems with the original trilogy. Now, having heard of how you dealt with the National Film Registry and the Library of Congress, I can only come to the conclusion that you are enemy to film preservation in general. Please co-operate with the NFR.

Nicole Ryker | Indiana, United States | June 14, 2012 | Thank you for creating these films and handling their resulting legacy, Mr. Lucas. I personally agree with your right to alter the films as you choose, but I also agree that the originals should be preserved for posterity. Although I love the Special Editions, there are a few pieces of the Theatrical Versions that have a special place in my heart - such as the Ewok Celebration at the end of Jedi. I agree with the petition's position that both can coexist without detracting from one another, and hope to one day see the best quality releases of ALL versions, including those released since 1997. I think that a box set with all of them would be one of the best records of the evolution of cinema and the improvement in technology (much of it pioneered by Lucasfilm companies) that there could be, as well as a visual representation of the evolution of a story in the mind of the artist. Thank you again, Mr. Lucas. May you achieve all your future goals – we will benefit enormously from it.

Lucas Dias Rodrigues dos Santos | New York, United States of America | June 16, 2012 | I want to have the original theatrical releases with a FEW image/color enhancements, but no useless animation added as in the 2004 version, and no horrible unforgivable overdubs (such as the infamous "NO!" in Episode VI).
Joseph Martell | Connecticut, United States of America | June 16, 2012 |
Christopher Powell | Pennsylvania, United States of America | June 17, 2012 |
James Kearl | ID, United States | June 17, 2012 | Let our money speak, George. We will spend money on the original versions of the films one hundred times before we would spend it on the new versions.
Jed Jensen | Washington, United States of America | June 17, 2012 |
Brian Sylvester | Oregon, U.S.A. | June 17, 2012 | I went to see all three movies being played at a local theater when I was five years old I sat through all three movies and the experience changed my life. By not letting me spend my money on the original films in an updated platform I think you are only hurting your bank account. I think many many people would be more open to your completed vision of what you think Star Wars should be. I for one would be just as saddened if you were to

Mr. Lucas, we understand that you were not satisfied with the original release of these beloved films. But they were released, and fans had decades to love a very specific vision - finished to your own standards or not. While we appreciate your continued passion for the films, you decided to make radical alterations to scenes vital to the viewer's perception of key characters, largely taking he "edge" from the films. The creative decisions you have made are tantamount to the Catholic Church editing the Bible. |

Tony Tryon | ca, usa | June 18, 2012 | Simple math. I've never purchased any of the new versions. I'd buy the original.
