I like the idea of mating the end of S2 with Rogue 1.

I’ve done a proof of concept that I call “A Rogue Hope” that marries the last year cycle of Andor Season 2 with Rogue 1. The transition from one to the other is S2 ending (as we saw) no credits and coldcut to Jyn Erso waking up in confinement.
The Galen/Lyra/Jynn scene in my edits has been moved to the beginning of S1E01 so there’s chronology (which I am big on as opposed to flashbacks) and when you hit the last yearly cycle of Andor S2 and they start talking about Galen Erso it’s like oh yeah he was that guy that they impressed back into service at the beginning of the series.

I am really enjoying it.

From a fanservice POV I think one of the characters is a callback to Roy Beatty and subtly tries to bridge the Bladerunner-verse with the Alien-verse. Like same model of robot just a different series or refinement of the basic product.

I am finding very little about it on social media and I was fairly undecided going in- I really like it. Am disappointed that I am not finding more people to ‘‘nerd out’’ about it with.

I am wondering if others who watched the first two episodes got a vibe that the captured critters, some of them at least maybe have some sort of telepathic ability? Maybe to lure hosts/prey/lunch into a false sense of security?

I want a backstory series about the eyeball kid.

I don’t expect anything aside from a re-re-re-re-re-release in the theaters and a Star Wars Insider that breathlessly has a small article about it buried in 50 pages of ads.
If I could have anything I want to commemorate it I would say a BR with the GOUT version included and a robust collection of cleaned up cut scenes and alternate takes, film not used, things like that.

Their videos are done using AI. Obviously it’s not 100% flawless but in many cases it has me fooled. I don’t know how they’re going about making these exactly. My assumption is some custom ComfyUI workflow.

I used their Palpatine dissolves the Senate scene as an experiment to bridge Rogue 1 and A New Hope, it works fairly well however the PDTS scene has some weird rocking back and forth, there’s longish shots of Palpy talking and the AI (I am thinking it is the AI) is recycling the footage so it rocks it back and forth. One could argue it’s from the POV of a droid that is broadcasting or filming this as they hover around the Senate chambers. The end result was okayish however it creates a chronology problem in that in ANH about two days later in the Death Star conference room they say that they’ve just received word that the Senate was dissolved. Maybe politics over the scale of galaxies made it take some time to iron out his authoritarianism? Too many bugs for me to call it a solution to bridge the movies.
Something I did like about this transition is that the combo of the Death Star going live & seeing Palpy dissolve the Senate really gives a sense of urgency to the events of ANH.

7 - Genocide
Perhaps the most important single word uttered in the arc (or alternatively if that’s too on-the-nose, something like Collapse/Catastrophe/Undoing/Massacre)

8 - Messenger
The core of this arc is about Luthen’s message making its way to Yavin 4, but on top of that Kleya sends out a desperate message which Cassian responds to; Most importantly, Cassian completes his journey by the end of this arc, on his way to becoming the Messenger the Force Healer foresaw him to be.

9 - Stardust 😉

I agree with someone else’s comment about how Rogue 1 opens, I moved all the flashbacky stuff to the beginning of my Andor Season 1 Episode One

Krennic collects Galen Erso
S1E1 of Andor

I also feel the episode with Kleya in the hospital works much better without the multiple flashbacks, just her going Mission Impossible in one uninterrupted sequence.

The last shot of S2 is Bix and Baby, my cut of Rogue 1 is now starting with Jyn’s flashback dream leading to her waking up in a prison cell.

Interesting resequencing.
I chopped the entire Obi-Wan scene, there’s just too much reiteration and nothing really new said…except who the other Skywalker is.
I did some selective cutting when Luke and Leia are talking on Endor to stay in step with this.
Now, just like in TESB where Vader reveals his paternity to Luke, it’s Vader and the Force sleuthing out that Luke has a sister during their duel, he threatens to turn Luke’s sister and that puts him over the edge.
Leia now announces to the audience the brother/sister thing as the she and the Force open up to one another and she connects the dots.

I actually quite like that idea, regularjoe! Definitely in favor of somehow beginning the film with a bit more of a punch and excitement than it does originally. I imagine you also reworded the crawl to reflect the new opening and clue the audience in with what’s happening? And/or did you add your own comm chatter?

I used someone else’s custom crawl that indicates that Luke has returned to Dagobah.
As far as comm chatter, etc. I left it the way that it is. It doesn’t literally spell everything out however it leaves a breadcrumb trail to fill in some gaps.

Luke sure made it from the North Pole to an equatorial docking bay dragging a dying giant of an armored man pretty darn quick.

I think placing it after the crawl dilutes it, the crawl already tells you that Vader is obsessively looking for Luke, putting it after the crawl just seems redundant, especially as he is learning his identity here and the crawl implies that he knows it already.

I did a pre-crawl scene in my TFA edit, I think that it is something that can work very well if one doesn’t have inflexible ideas about how a Star Wars movie has to start.

I like this a lot. I would transition it from Vader to the Wiiliams fanfare and the Star Wars logo rolling up the screen.

It has a primary audience that I am not. I prefer the Valerian set pieces more than the Amblin inspired stuff.

I have an old fanedit that someone did of Jedi that had a restored sandstorm, am pretty sure AI wasn’t used and the result was great.

The possession part of the meeting the Jedi scene doesn’t work very well with integrating the two episodes, would be interested in seeing if/how someone pulls that off.

For me the biggest stumbling block of the ST was that I just couldn’t invest in Kylo Ren as a villain.
As the post above this says, Manny is just owning the role of Qimir and for me this is the best developed dark side user we’ve had since Darth Vader and Palpy. I was rather meh about the show at first and I am fully onboard with it.

I think the answer (and I am not trying to be mean here) is that they literally don’t care anymore about making sure that things align to everything cannon or otherwise. We’re just going to make stuff.

BTW I am not Disney bashing here or denigrating the quality of what’s come out, I’m down with pretty much all of it as long as the initials JJA aren’t associated with it, just clear to me that worrying about, oh, a yellow lightsaber was only used in one sentence in a book from 1987 that that is now out of print, do you think we should do that? Those days are gone.

I have contemporary photos of the shopping mall in my hometown from when the movie came out, there’s ashtrays to the left and right at the top of the escalator going down in one of the anchor department stores.

Things have changed a lot in that regard.

It’s a real niche preservation/nostalgia effort, I feel for you.
Not too long ago I tried to make a 1977 Star Wars edit that felt like watching it at my local theater, period specific ads, don’t forget the concession stand nag, the Duck Dodgers cartoon before the movie that Lucas couldn’t license (when I was a kid they still played cartoons before G rated movies where I lived) and trailers for other later summer 1977 movies. The worst part of it was that everything in the pre-show section looked aged and then the cartoon and the movie looked pristine, I don’t really want to distress/age them to achieve the goal and at the same time can’t upgrade the period pieces and I wound up abandoning the project.
