Hard disks and all are in the hands of Poita, who’s had a very very unfortunate succession of health issues that I’m not allowed to go into, but I trust that it will be completed when he gets better. I’m the first one who would like to see that restoration complete, I adore this film. Some projects are just not very lucky, but I trust that it will see the light of day eventually.

Yes, I’m afraid that it’s dead. I heard nothing from the guy and at this point I never will. It’s a crying shame, it looked like a nice print. Whoever donated, can PM me the date of the donation and the email linked to your paypal account so I can identify you and I’ll see that you get refunded, in alternative I can offer a 35mm scan of a different film. I have two in the works that have never been scanned before, the scans have already been delivered to me (no more vanishing scanners), but they are still in a raw format and will need some work.
If I take a while to reply don’t worry, I’m just not very active on OT, trying to keep up with a busy life and for some reason I rarely receive email notifications from OT, but sometimes I remember to log in.

I know, it would be a shame to miss this chance to see it in 35mm. Fingers crossed

I’ll see if I can solve this by the end of summer, otherwise I’ll refund the people who sent me money and we forget about Face Off 35mm all together. It’s going to be a loss for me, I won’t deny, but what else can I do. You live you learn.

Sorry to say, no. We did retrieve most of the material from the scanner in the meantime (other previous projects), only Face/Off is still there and the person is kinda hard to reach for very long periods of time. I wrote to him recently and I’m waiting for a reply. Sorry for the long delays, guys. I’m personally ashamed that this person turned out to be so difficult to deal with, it didn’t start that way, as the delivery of previous projects prooved. I still trust that we’ll get this delivered eventually.

We have had some problems with the scanner who has grown an immense backlog, at the moment we can’t tell when it will be ready. I’m very sorry for the long delay

I would prefer if the Italian track didn’t come out in high quality until Poita’s project is done as it would devalue any attempt to resell the print to fund more projects. Because you can be sure that it’s gonna end up being shared on pirate websites.

I’m also hoping for someone to “grab” those from Netflix. I don’t expect stellar quality but it would be a start. I’m based in Italy and can’t see Warriors on Netflix. Furthermore, when I’m in the UK I don’t have a PC good enough to do it. All we need really are those specific segments of the film.
Considering that Netflix removes films continously from their catalogue, the sooner it happens the better. It might be our only chance for a long time.

Poita is currently working on it, we are all patiently waiting on updates from him.

The final release yes, I imagine, but not the first direct release, that’s something we will release only to the donors to show our gratitude for helping us out in what is a logistical ordeal and a financially risky effort for us. As said, we could only do this thanks to other scan projects currently in the works, anyone who wants access to the first direct release in exchange of a small donation towards our current projects feel free to contact me.

Since we are basically leeching onto RU.08’s other scanning projects (and this is the only reason why we could do it so cheaply, bless him) you can indeed donate something to his project and still get the early release of Face/Off. Get in touch with me or him and I’ll put you in the list of those who will get an early access release.

This first direct release will have a 25gb limit for practical reasons, but we didn’t say anything about the FINAL release. That will be up to PDB.

I’ve asked, the print was located in Germany and has German writing on the cans but the whole thing is in English, so it was either for original sound projections or for some US NATO base. Either or, I think it’s unlikely to be a British cut

I honesty don’t know what’s the story behind this print other than it was owned by someone in Europe (not in Britain) but we’ll know soon enough.

Ok, funding is complete! Thanks to everyone who joined in! Couldn’t have done without you. I’ll add all the names in the list of members who helped us out in a future thread. Shouldn’t be long until we get a first release!

It’s all in English, no subtitles, either US or British release. We don’t know yet if there are missing frames, it’s supposed to have no splices. It’s early to say which BR version PDB will synch it with, in any case we expect to propose it both with multichannel track from BR and optical audio from 35mm (in the final release). The first “raw release” won’t be synched with anything yet, it will be a direct transfer, just to give you something while waiting for the final one.
We do not have a theatrical DTS CD, we haven’t found it yet but we’re always looking.

We’re not asking you to spend the whole 75 but even a smaller portion would be good. 😉

I’m sure the transfer itself was great (from negative that’s for sure), before they erased details with DNR, increased the brightness in every single dark spot and recolored 😛

If would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity. We’re only missing around 75 euro and everyone who donated so far already invested as much as they could. If anyone else would like to help out this project let me know ASAP.
