we were working on the empire strikes back 35mm before we started star wars,

but then we shifted priorities to star wars. someone else will continue the

work with empire strikes back 35mm. we have good leads on return of the

jedi on 35mm. so it's just a matter of time.

I'm amazed and thankful to all the talented people on here who offer their time and expertise.  I have no real talents in any of those things, so I can only sit in awe and cheer on these awesome efforts. .)

I'm probably out of line, but I would put a vote for DTS-HD Master Audio as a preference for the audio, as I sadly don't have the proper hardware to listen to lpcm (my hardware only play that as stereo and not as surround).

It's just too cool that you are open to the idea of others adding to this project once it's released and I hope I can find someone who can add Danish subtitles to it and has a BR burner, so I can enjoy this wonderful project with friends and family like we should all really have been able to do with the official releases - the original unaltered movies.

As said, some shaky camera movements are intentional... especially in that scene, as mentioned, it brings tension and fear of what's lurking in the shadows.

Steadying of the scenes in general is a good thing, as long as it doesn't take away from intentional shakes and rapid movement of the camera - designed to evoke certain emotional responses from the viewer.

This is one damn exciting project, to be honest.

LOL... there's just something very kitsch about that cover art.  Nice.  If the movie was originally sold on that... people would certainly have expected something very different than what the movie turned out to be.  Not camp like Flash Gordon.

Got the GOUT now... much better quality over my old bootlegs, so those have been tossed along with the SE's.  Overall, I'm fairly pleased with owning this set, seeing as it's the only authentic release of the original movies we'll likely get in a reasonable quality medium.

Well, my reluctance against the PAL GOUT just disappeared in that regard, as they were, in my view, no upgrade from the subtitle-less bootlegs I already owned.  I don't know where I got the impression that they were without subtitles... thanks for putting me straight! .)

Though... if I get these... I just need to find someone who'd be interested in those dreadful SE's that come with them.

Oh... cool.  Then... still looking to hear from reg 2 PAL owners regarding subtitles on the GOUT.

Oh, okay.  Well, if the PAL GOUT doesn't have subtitle options, then there'd be no point in trying to obtain it.

This may be quickly answered, but I didn't find a suitable other post to put forth this question in, so I'm gonna do it here.  Haven't been able to find the answer online, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

I live in Denmark and really want to show my nephew the REAL Star Wars movies, but I haven't found any info on any of the fan projects having Danish subtitle options and was wondering if anyone can tell me if the extra feature discs containing the theatrical cuts that was released after the 2004 box set has that, as that would then be an option.

The only option I have currently is showing him the 2004 SE's and I really don't want to do that.

The top one. I don't know what it was with LFL in the 90's but they could not make younger versions of OT characters for anything (see: TPM Yoda).

Not that RotS Chewie is that much better... At least Digi-Yoda is close.

 

The digital Yoda, though he registers to the casual viewer as Yoda, is so structurally and stylistically different from the OT puppet, it is like comparing the ANH/ESB with the RotJ stormtrooper helmet and calling them the same.

Sadly... it just seems like the thought behind it is that "angry" is the new "cool".  Gotta make him cool... and angry and kick-ass... oh... and wield a lightsaber.

All the SE tinkering has left me cold for this release, when I should be absolutely PSYCHED.  Give me the originals restored for Blu-Ray... not this silly crap.

Steven Spielberg gave us both versions of ET - original and SE.  And multiple versions of Close Encounters.

Ridley Scott gave us ALL versions of Blade Runner.

Everyone else can clean and restore old movies for Blu-Ray... but not Lucas, because the originals are not his "vision".  Lame.
