The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)
Time

I noticed a little oopsie in the AI-free track while adapting it to fit the Rey Nobody version, so I am uploading a fixed mkv version now and the other two will follow shortly.

Also, I removed the old Rey Nobody version and am uploading a workprint version. It’s small, but fully complete, just without all the bells and whistles like subtitles and all that. But if anyone’s itching to see that version, it’s perfectly watchable for the time being until I get the rest done.

En route to updating the Rey Nobody version, I am first going to reissue the default (Rey Palpatine) version of Ascendant which will include an audio track that omits every use of AI-generated dialogue. The film remains totally coherent, simply going without some of the changes.

Octorox sent me a PM indicating interest from a friend who was understandably put off by the use of AI. So, I figured since AI was used only for a handful of things that could easily not have been done, it would be worthwhile to present this alternate audio track.

I will point out, however, that onscreen Star Wars has certainly not shied away from heavy use of AI-generated dialogue. So… yeah. On the other hand, I get it, though.

The only other change this time is to fix a color timing error. In the current version, the color correction is missing from about when Rey enters Palpatine’s lair until she pulls out Leia’s saber for the first time. Other than this correction and the inclusion of the new audio track, no changes.

The Rey Nobody version will also include an AI-free audio track, and I’ll reissue my edits of Episodes I and III with similar AI-free audio tracks. (Although for those two, the use of AI was much less prevalent.)

Hal’s Rogue One edit (a half-assed version of DigMod’s) (Released)

Just saw this yesterday. And the King has done it again, folks.

I’ve always liked Rogue One, but watching this edit after Andor turns the whole thing up even a few more notches.

I’ll give this edit a 99.9 score.

0.1 points is deducted because of the missing “Jyn, I’ll be there for you… Cassian said I’d have to”.
So now I’m looking forward to the maximalist version where this is included 😉

Great work, Hal!

Thanks! That line was only removed because of the lovey eyes between Cassian and Jyn. It was not possible to salvage.

The ‘Custom Special Edition’ That Almost Wasn’t, But Then Was (Released)
Time

Absolutely. Hardest part will be waiting for source material!

Ideally I’d like to do it all:

 • A version that sticks to the original versions other than story-related changes
 • A version like the current that uses SE version by default
 • Audio track for OOT that makes story changes that don’t require video changes
 • Adjust all major soundtracks (at least for ANH) over the years to be included for this Custom SE

I mean, why not?

Well, I’ve got a cut of the movie that does everything needed, and it flows perfectly well without an AI line for Andor in that scene. If you have already started or do wish to generate some lines I’d still be glad to field them. But if not, I’m ready to blow past it and knock this out.

It’ll live up to the “half-assed name.” This cut of Rogue One will merely address a few minor issues with the movie without really transforming anything. Just sort of a quality-of-life cut.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Love it!

However, the original film doesn’t reveal that Tatooine has two suns until the binary sunset scene. This version obviously does, and although I’m sure this was well considered, just wanted to mention it.

Artoo’s red/blue light looks great, and the “looksirdroids” scene is perfect.

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

I don’t think a change like that lends itself to the regular/max distinction; it either works well or doesn’t, and no one would think, “I miss this moment.” It’s one of a few things that were undone not because I love the original, but for it to feel seamless. The scene ends very abruptly otherwise.

At this point, the prequels are closed off; I cannot keep myself open to revising them. I appreciate the feedback, sincerely, though.

 1. The deleted scene where Sebulba flashes his vents has an issue with the black bars from the aspect ratio. They appear white, which makes the whole sequence kinda stick out like a sore thumb.

Glad you pointed it out, though. Thankfully only affects the larger version since the others are cropped.

I very much leave the door open for these OT projects to improvements from new source material and such. If there comes a good way to apply the voice modulation I’d be thrilled to include it.

Who knows? If rumors hold about the 50th anniversary OOT restoration, I’d be elated to start these three projects over from the beginning!

ROTJ has finally been updated to include the AI-augmented Vader line, “Your mother once thought as you do” in the main audio channel. No other changes.

The Yub Nub version has everything, but for the planet celebration ending it looks like it only uploaded the tiny encode version.

Trying again now.
