REVIEW: The Clone Wars TV series from 2008: surprisingly well done
Time

I’ve been interested in Q2’s, I wish they would continue the series. Smudger9’s seem to cut a lot of things out that I liked, for instance the Zillo Beast, whose storyline had some real flaws, but the beast itself was incredible. And the aforementioned Mandalore arc isn’t in it either.

Apt.

Here is a chronological list of episodes/ movie to watch from the 2008 Clone Wars. http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder

THAT is confusing. I had no idea they were aired out of order. Was this a Disney retcon, or what how where? Someone please explain.

Oh and thanks for the link!

Just a case of the show occasionally going into anachronic order. The third season of the show was promoted under the title “Secrets Revealed” and half of it was dedicated to expanding on stories from the previous two seasons.

 Ventress? Really?

No matter how many times I tried, I just couldn't get into the Clone Wars 2008 series. I'd prefer Rebels avoid dredging up stale remnants of it. I still don't like the idea of previously unheard of Inquisitors doing the dirty work Vader should be doing, either. I hope Ezra gets killed eventually.

No, Seventh Sister isn't even Dathomirian. Same species as Barriss Offee, though they've been insisting that they're separate characters.

For those interested in Tokyo's expanded queue, a Japanese YouTube user going by couperin9 shot a ton of footage before the conversion to Star Tours 2. We actually got videos with the full English language version of their entry hangar queue audio loop here.

Second link is a poor angle from below the droids, but the audio is slightly better

Martin's been working on a trilogy of videos chronicling the history of the old Studio Backlot Tour at the Studios park

For part one, he actually managed to piece together the "C3PO, R2 and George" video explaining the Editing process with some muddy clips. Figured I'd link that here.

Once I have the Five Armies edited into the mix, I will go back and try to fit some of the EE scenes you mentioned. I do really like the scene between Elrond and Bilbo especially.

Here's a link to some select scenes from my fanedit that I've uploaded:

http://www.maple-films.com/video-clips.html

I think you need a better transition from the troll hoard to the Rivendell cave. Way it is now, almost makes it seem like the trolls are squatting on Elrond's front yard.

This topic made me decide to watch a few Clone Wars episodes for curiosity sake. I watched the last three episodes of season four. Seems like a decent kids show. But wow, what a mess for continuity! Anakin seems like a really likeable and heroic character here. How'd he go from being as he was in AOTC, to mature and likeable in The Clone Wars, to entirely immature and unlikeable again in ROTS? None of it makes any sense.

At least with the finale they found a nifty way to get Ahsoka out of the picture to explain her absence in ROTS.

There's quite a few episodes that show Anakin's temper and conservative views. Scene in the Geonosian arc where he tortures and force chokes Poggle for information comes to mind.

Also, seeing Anakin as something more then just a whiny bitch makes his fall work better and you can legitimately believe Obi-Wan's old comment "He was a good friend". He's a more well rounded character.

I hope they wrap things up with her.  She needs to die (not because I don't like her, but for continuity purposes), but it could be handled quite dramatically.

Bingowings said:

Does she?

She could just go into exile and never be seen again.

Possibly be hunted by Vader in the new show.

Did you see the end of the show? Ahsoka was expelled from the Jedi Order when she was framed for murder and conspiracy by Barriss. When her name was cleared, they offered her the chance to get back in and possibly get Knight status with the ordeal serving as fulfilling her trials, but she turned them down and just left because she felt she couldn't trust the Council anymore.

Show ends with Anakin watching Ahsoka walk away into the sunset and the regular credits music being replaced by sad music like that episode of the Simpsons with Homer's Mom.

Joe Johnston wants to make a Boba Fett movie
Time

http://screenrant.com/captain-america-director-joe-johnston-boba-fett-movie-rothc-123936/

“You know if he wants to see it, I would show it to him. I’m trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett.”

When asked if he would direct the film Johnston said simply, “I would like to, it would be a lot of fun.”

If they did this, I think it could go either way depending on how much Lucas wants to get involved in the project.

The medium is the message. If you don't think that CGI have a negative effect on how filmmakers approach the creation of a film you have your head up your ass. Does anyone here think that the great epic blockbusters of the pre-CGI era are not superior in nearly every way to the modern garbage we are fed? Yes, I am including overrated mediocrities like LOTR and Avatar as "modern garbage"

Except Lord of the Rings used a ton of miniatures, forced perspective and elaborate makeup and saved the CG for the things that were less feasible to do as practical effects. Hell, even Treebeard they used both animatronics and CG.

Well, ride reports are coming in from preview riders at Disneyland of the new version.

Spoiler:

Basically, the Empire is after a Rebel spy that is one of the passengers aboard the Starspeeder, with Vader or other imperial forces meeting you at the Star Tours spaceport. Making an escape to one of the other planets, you are then contacted by one of the rebels (Leia, Ackbar and Yoda for some reason) on how to reach one of the bases where the spy you're carrying will be safe, which leads into another destination and the ride's end, presumably avoiding Imperial interference along the way

Mixing the six planets into that base story (Tatooine, Hoth, Coruscant, Naboo, Kashyyyk, and Geonosis with an under-construction Death Star) and other changes and you've got an interesting changing experience.

Well, it's finally arrived on Mousebits. It'll probably arrive on Vimeo in a few days.

Now the US versions of the original attraction have closed, here is an edit that was six months in the making.

Start way back with the history of attempting to use a motion base as an attraction, then see the developing relationship between George Lucas and Michael Eisner. Follow the ride planning, with a full concept and construction section for both parks. See the Disneyland opening, and changes added over the years. Next see the original Disney-MGM exteriors and also changes made over the years. This is followed by a full tour of the Disney's Hollywood Studios exterior as it was before closing and a look at the differences to the preshow and boarding area layout. The take a full look at the Disneyland queue and preshow areas, again just before closing, shot by Chris Bales.

Next is the full multi camera, mostly tripod shot preshow in both the lower and upper rooms. All droids, Starspeeder effects, video wall, details, everything - both the R2D2/C3P0 and GT-40 and GT-90 preshows are shown in full from multiple angles, with source audio. Wander through the line taking in the details, arrive at load and watch the overhead monitor as your flight to the moon of Endor is prepared, followed by the safety video - again tripod shot with source audio. Next walk into your speeder for a split screen full ride using source ride film and incabin coverage of REX, the side video screen and the in-cabin effects. This is set to a new stereo source mix of the ride audio, remixed to bring the score forward more and with added incabin audio effects to sound just like the attraction did.

Finally, exit the Disneyland ride and walk into the store, then exit the Orlando version and walk into the store too. Finally, take a look at both closed attractions as the adventure gets ready to continue.

65 minutes long. Enjoy!

Fantasia Hybrid Edition (* unfinished project *)

Might be of interest if you were to go a little more of a radical route on this project, but I've recently checked out "The Disney that Never Was" and it has the original program for the project when it was still "The Concert Feature".

Originally went Sorcerer's Apprentice, Nutcracker Suite, Bald Mountain and Ave Maria, Cydalise and the Faun (which eventually became Pastoral), Ride of the Valkyries (which is in storyreel form on the Legacy set), Claire de Lune, Animal Ballet (became Dance of the Hours) and Rite of Spring.

It's not commercial. His videos are always made free. The permission angle is presumably just asking Castmembers if he could tape.

He does mention source audio and video, which tells me he got his hands on some original footage and not just cam shots.  If he's got a good quality version of the ride film, and/or the safety videos from the source, that's a treasure indeed.

--SKot

Actually, there's a lot of Disney Park source audio floating around online. Disney used to have a burn-on-demand service for that sorta stuff in the early 2000s, called Disneyland Forever.

Remains to be seen what he's referring to on the source video outside that leaked ride film though. Seeing as he managed to get a hold of the ridiculously rare Michael Jittlov Dreamfinder short for his 80's Imageworks/Magic Journeys tribute, anything's possible.

This video Martin is producing sounds awesome...just the thing to keep the original ride alive as much as possible.

It does sound like it's meant to be a commercial release, though, especially since he got permission.  Is this the case?  If so, just buy the damn thing, don't torrent it.  Projects like this are worth supporting.

Can someone seed a copy of this on a torrent? I'd be glad to seed once I got it. Thx.

Well, with Martin's video, there will definitely be torrents when it comes out. Martin uploads most of his stuff to MouseBits, a Disney park media torrent site. Already includes a handful of Star Tours based media, including Martin's older Star Tours edit and that original ride-footage file.
