An Empire Strikes Back suggestion to throw out there. I think some of the 2004 dialogue for the Vader-Emperor conversation could possibly be rearranged to improve the scene a bit:

VADER: What is thy bidding, my master?

EMPEROR: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

VADER: I have felt it.

EMPEROR: Luke Skywalker.

VADER: Yes, my master.

EMPEROR: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

VADER: He’s just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

EMPEROR: He destroyed the Death Star. He could destroy us.

VADER: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

EMPEROR: Yes…yes…he would be a great Sith. Can it be done?

VADER: He will join us or die, master.

Three points to justify it: first, it's never made sense to me that Vader or Palpatine would consider Luke a "new" enemy several years after he saved Leia and destroyed the Death Star. Second, the line about Luke destroying the Death Star makes it a bit more substantive of a conversation by having Palpatine provide an actual counter-argument to Vader's protest. Third, I like the idea of working the word "Sith" into ESB and/or ROTJ once or twice.

This isn't a "radical" redux, but still worth considering. The ROTS novelization made Anakin's anger at the Council not making him a Master a whole lot more substantive, rather than just petulant whining, by establishing that Anakin was counting on Master-status to get him full Jedi Archives access, where he hoped to learn something that could help save Padme.

Maybe this could be incorporated into the movie through new dialogue - for instance, during the meeting have Plo Koon (since we don't see his lip movements, fans like him, and his voice would be relatively easy to do) say something like, "You may represent the Chancellor, but you will neither vote nor have Master-level access to the Temple Archives."

To further sell the idea, maybe put "I found a way to save you from my nightmares" before the Council scene, so it's referring to the hope Anakin places in Mastery.

Here's a thought that would probably be very difficult to realize, but since this is the "Radical" Redux thread I'll throw it out there: to me, one of the worst examples of CGI over-use, and one of the things that really sets the prequels apart from the OT visually, is that the clonetroopers are all digital. I wonder how much clone footage could be replaced with shots of guys in physical suits....even if it were just a few of the more static, close-up shots, it might make a big difference.

In the past, adding surface shots of Alderaan's destruction has been discussed. While re-watching Serenity, I realized that there's a brief clip in the beginning that could be useful:

Sure, the architecture's less rounded, but it still looks evocative of Alderaan to me, if perhaps another part of the planet, or maybe a civilian/industrial sector as opposed to the capital seen in ROTS. The sharper buildings even sort of fit with the idea of the galaxy becoming a more rugged, weathered place.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I'm new to downloading fan edits, and I finally downloaded ANH:R this weekend. I had time to watch the first half or so the other day, and was absolutely blown away. I've long admired Adywan's work via YouTube and Facebook, but seeing it the way it was meant to be seen has proven that even effects I initially wasn't sold on (like the new Alderaan explosion) are awesome.

However, I may have a technical problem with my copy. Yesterday I watched the first half of the DVD on an Xbox 360. Perfect. Tonight I picked up on a PS2, and the movie was riddled with pauses every few seconds. I'm probably among the least technologically-savvy guys around here, but in my brief digging into the problem I've read that this is probably a problem with how the PS2 reads non-commercial DVDs, rather than a flaw with ANH:R itself.

Has anybody else had similar experiences?

The NOOO honestly doesn't bother me much, but if you're changing it, I don't know if you even need a substitute for the scream at all. Just rearrange the dialogue (with a snippet or two from other Vader lines) to have his reaction to the news one of instant outrage that quickly is replaced by self-hating depression:

PALPATINE: It seems, in your anger, you killed her.

VADER: WHAT? No, I - she was alive! I...couldn't have...

Don't have him destroy the droids (CGI here always looked iffy anyway) or break off the table, either - just some subtle Force-shaking, but end either on a close-up of his face or Palpatine's.

Switching gears, I recently saw the mockup of the Tantive IV on Dagobah in ROTS, which was awesome, though I see one potential problem in just how much the Polis Massa med center's design varies from the interior of the Tantive. Granted, that's probably nigh-impossible to resolve in a fanedit, but if there was a way to at least make the hallway outside the operating room mesh a little better w/ the rest of the ship, the concept would be perfect.

That would be an amazing spectacle (and the Force Unleashed fan in me is giddy at the prospect of destroying more Star Destroyers with Force Pull), but I don't think even a SSD's impact on a moon-sized space station would destroy it - I prefer Lando taking out the core. You could try having the SSD crash simply overload the Death Star's shield, but then there's the problem of conveying on-screen (in both a logical and thematically-satisfying way) how Han destroying the shield generator somehow didn't destroy all of the shield.

It's a cool idea, and part of me really wants it to work - but I just don't see it fitting.

Hey guys, long-time reader, first-time commenter :)

Just wanted to throw in my two cents. I'm all for changing the Mustafar duel's ending in some way, but if it goes as far as jumping from the arm straight to the shore (as was suggested earlier), it would cut out riding on the droids, which is admittedly kinda silly, but it would also cut out one of what I personally think is one of the most powerful shots in the whole sequence - the brief silent lull in the combat as they float down the river, staring at each other. To me, the look of disbelief on Obi-Wan's face at what his friend has become is just perfect, and I'd hate to see it go (I'd be OK with getting rid of the dialogue around that moment, though).
