Dargo off Farscape.
Replace all the characters played by puppets with actors in suits and all the actors with CGI and all the CGI with puppets.
Any thoughts on how to make the battle droids less silly or better still actually sinister? They look skeletal maybe having them scream machine code like the skeleton warriors in Jason and the Argonauts as they charge into battle would be unnerving. Or maybe have their eyes change as they go into attack mode.
Surprisingly great compared to the one back in 70’s behind the scenes. If they used this, I’d have no objection. Though I still don’t understand the link between this and “Darth Farmer”. It SORT OF, I express the words SORT OF reminds me of either the Emperor or the Horned King or a character you’d hear from The Lord of the Rings.
As I said, in British English a West Country (not Scottish 😁) accent is associated with agriculture, much like a Southern US accent might. That’s how the nickname stuck.

Darth Farmer is the mocking nickname given to Prowse based on the on set recordings. So called because his Bristol accent is more associated with agricultural archetypes, at least in the 70s it was.

I’ll be back to doing Editing breakdowns soon, as long as work doesn’t get too busy.
Enjoy the Edit!

Sanded that the new down a bit.
I grow weary of people taking the piss out of David Prowse’s on set delivery. He was wearing a mask so he had to yell for the other actors to catch their cues. He knew the voice would be recorded in post production but was led to believe he would be doing it. He was an actor. If given the task he wouldn’t have performed it in his own Bristol accent. Would it be as good as JEJ, doubtful, but it wouldn’t have been the same voice he used on set. Anthony Daniels also knew his lines would be rerecorded so he too used his natural voice. Lucas intended Threepio to sound like a used car salesman but when he heard Daniels on set voice he called him back to exaggerate that performance and Threepio became a fussy butler instead. Despite the crappy way Lucas treated Prowse (and the other Darth, Peter Serafinowicz) Prowse and JEJ both praised eachother and he did a lot of charity work before his death. But yeah it would be funny. Artoo was originally going to speak English too.
You could call me out directly, no need to beat around the bush. I thought this post was just for comedy reasons. If you feel I’ve gone too far then, I’m sorry. Hope there is no bad blood between us
Nah bad blood. I am just annoyed by the prevalence of the Darth Farmer thing. Someone made a video where fans in the biz took Prowse to a sound booth and recorded him giving an actual Vader performance and did all the post production filtering and it was good. As iconic as JEJ…? probably not. If it had been there in 1977 we wouldnt know that though. I wish I could find that video

Ady used a memorable snippet.
Personally I would prefer to see Luke assemble the saber on Dagobah using the Force. It made no sense to me that Luke would walk straight into Jabba’s palace with no extra training after getting his ass handed to him. He promised to return to Yoda. I’d shift the Yoda scenes to the beginning of the film, implication being that he has been training for ages before Yoda finally dies (not mid sentence after waiting for Luke to come back). Having Luke have to use the Force to assemble the saber makes Vader’s later comments about Luke’s complete skills make more sense. It’s his skills with the Force the Emperor is interested in not his skills with a screwdriver.
The air swim? Is that a Force move too?

Darth Vader (spoilers) dies are the end of Return of the Jedi but as some bootleg merch and unconcerned “journalists” point out “Darth Vadar Lives”. So we can show Darth Vadar escaping in his tie fighter and losing control when the shock wave from the Death Star 2 explodes just like his near namesake did in the first film. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/AbkAAOSww8FlLbHu/s-l1200.jpg
I have no doubt the ending will eventually make lore sense but it really does wreck the tone of the particular film. Which is a shame with such a great movie.
Thanks.

Many thanks. It’s easy to miss things on a thread this large. I wish Star Destroyer approach was extended so after the shuttle and TIEs launch it just kept going until it was a very small in frame giving the Death Star a bit more scale. Only Rogue One really demonstrates the scale of a Death Star. The ROTJ one looks like pacman. 😁
The Droid control ship has a unique design. From an attack perspective it’s the equivalent of the thermal exhaust port on the Death Star. I would have kept the other capital ships visible in the battle. The Federation would be so convinced of its victory that the fighters launched from the control ship would have been enough. Visually you don’t have the threat suddenly reduced. Once the control ship is down they can’t launch anymore fighters as they were controlled from the control ship. You might have them try to escape like in the Battle of Scarif only to have Republic ships turn up and stop some (once Palpatine has seen the tide turn). The battle doesn’t currently feel right. Which a problem with the original film and not your edit.
Thanks.
Forgive me if this has been mentioned in the 157pages of this thread yet but in the current version Jerjerrod slows down and freezes (very artificially) to extend the scene for the transition to the droids approaching Jabba’s palace. It always bugged me as a kid. I don’t know if removing the saber construction scene meant they didn’t have enough frames accounted for but I hope it can be fixed. Either by using AI to add the missing frames or by doing some sort of edit to something else.
I’d make mortality optional.
Presumably you have heard this voice adjustment. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bp9Z3wbEj/

Dunno if that’s made a difference. It could be closed off to faceboot users only. I can’t find another link.
I can click on the previous link and it opens. Probably some Meta shenigans.
One aspect of the Naboo battle I never understood is why remove the other capital ships? The way the battle is designed they are heading for the droid control ship and it’s heavily defended so the droid fighters would come from there. So why not have the rest of the blockade visible not engaging the fighters out of hubris. Once droid control ship is down we could see some droid fighters go dead in space explaining why the other capital ships didn’t launch more. All the droids were coordinated from the same ship, including the fighters.
