Darth Vader (spoilers) dies are the end of Return of the Jedi but as some bootleg merch and unconcerned “journalists” point out “Darth Vadar Lives”. So we can show Darth Vadar escaping in his tie fighter and losing control when the shock wave from the Death Star 2 explodes just like his near namesake did in the first film. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/AbkAAOSww8FlLbHu/s-l1200.jpg
I have no doubt the ending will eventually make lore sense but it really does wreck the tone of the particular film. Which is a shame with such a great movie.
Thanks.
Here’s the video:

Many thanks. It’s easy to miss things on a thread this large. I wish Star Destroyer approach was extended so after the shuttle and TIEs launch it just kept going until it was a very small in frame giving the Death Star a bit more scale. Only Rogue One really demonstrates the scale of a Death Star. The ROTJ one looks like pacman. 😁
The Droid control ship has a unique design. From an attack perspective it’s the equivalent of the thermal exhaust port on the Death Star. I would have kept the other capital ships visible in the battle. The Federation would be so convinced of its victory that the fighters launched from the control ship would have been enough. Visually you don’t have the threat suddenly reduced. Once the control ship is down they can’t launch anymore fighters as they were controlled from the control ship. You might have them try to escape like in the Battle of Scarif only to have Republic ships turn up and stop some (once Palpatine has seen the tide turn). The battle doesn’t currently feel right. Which a problem with the original film and not your edit.
Thanks.
Forgive me if this has been mentioned in the 157pages of this thread yet but in the current version Jerjerrod slows down and freezes (very artificially) to extend the scene for the transition to the droids approaching Jabba’s palace. It always bugged me as a kid. I don’t know if removing the saber construction scene meant they didn’t have enough frames accounted for but I hope it can be fixed. Either by using AI to add the missing frames or by doing some sort of edit to something else.
I’d make mortality optional.
Presumably you have heard this voice adjustment. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bp9Z3wbEj/
Link’s broken. 🥲

Dunno if that’s made a difference. It could be closed off to faceboot users only. I can’t find another link.
I can click on the previous link and it opens. Probably some Meta shenigans.
One aspect of the Naboo battle I never understood is why remove the other capital ships? The way the battle is designed they are heading for the droid control ship and it’s heavily defended so the droid fighters would come from there. So why not have the rest of the blockade visible not engaging the fighters out of hubris. Once droid control ship is down we could see some droid fighters go dead in space explaining why the other capital ships didn’t launch more. All the droids were coordinated from the same ship, including the fighters.
If sourcing material to establish the Swiss soldiers is impossible cutting their introductory action scene might have a similar effect. It is a good sequence but if we only ever meet Eric he explains how he got there anyway making the earlier scene narratively redunant. We know what alphas are, we have seen them rip the head off a stag as a trophy. As is their sudden appearance is kind of confusing without any establishment.
Remember this is an alternate timeline where the UK ended in the 90’s…okay a different timeline where the UK ended in the 90s so presumably the Jimmy plot is about the corruption of youth as Sir Jim hadn’t been officially exposed yet. It’s good each film has something to say about the contemporary world. Just wish they had left that for the next film.
I saw the 3rd film in the series. Loved it. A beautiful film about loss and mortality through the eyes of a child. The only things that spoil it are the curses of modern cinema, rememberberries and the necessity to end with a set up for the sequel. The last two minutes creates such a tonal whiplash that it almost spoils a very good film.
So I thought perfect fan edit material.
My suggestions thus far, splice in footage from a suitable film to give a more clear introduction to the Swiss marines
Cut the rememberberries from Eric about his friend the delivery driver (oh yes…just like the guy in first film.ha ha ha…no).
Stop the film with the islanders reading the letter and Spike’s dad distressed or maybe with Spike cooking the fish pondering his next move but no Jim’ll Fix It scene.
Possibly some sort of montage that explains how the French halted their outbreak from the previous film.
It’s a very watchable film in its current state, not as horrific as the first one but more melancholic and poignant. It just needs a little TLC.
Any other observations and suggestions?
I can’t see it posted elsewhere. It was a blending of the Rogue One vocal performance and an AI reconstruction of Peter Cushing’s voice. It’s very evocative.
Just seen 28 Years Later. A strangely tender film about mortality, slightly ruined by the last few minutes set up for the next installment. If they cut that out it would be an exceptional movie. It’s still good. Think Kes Meets Zombies (only they aren’t really zombies).
Presumably you have heard this voice adjustment. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bp9Z3wbEj/
When Luke removes Vader’s helmet the face of Sebastian Shaw is replaced by a young Hayden Christian from costume test footage grinning awkwardly so it matches the Force Ghost at the end of the movie
Also all footage of Vader is dropped a few inches and his boots have visible lifts to match the footage from Revenge of the Sith and the Kenobi TV series.
Somehow “SomethingStarWarsRelated” has returned.
^This is why we need a like button. 😁
SSWR, don’t worry about the edit.
Your health and happiness are much more important. You proved certain things are possible. I would have loved to see your final edit, or at least have some record of the progress you made so someone else could pick up the baton but I would have much more preferred to have seen a not crap Star Wars prequel trilogy starting from 1999. At the end of the day it’s just space fantasy. Family, mental wellbeing and happiness are much more important than space monks with laser swords. Glad you are okay.
What if… Instead of destroying the Endor shield generator the Rebels redirected the shield to protect the moon from debris. Everyone looking up and seeing the station exploding could be a briefly tense moment as they wait to see if the recalibrated shield works. The big celebration could be seeing the debris bounce off the shield knowing the people below were safe.
Forgive me if this has been suggested. I was just being an indolent swine over on faceboot when a reel of Tik Tokified clips of ANH showed up with material added to the top and bottom of the frame rather than cropping the current image. Sometimes it looks REALLY good. It made me wonder (and this is true of all of the films really) if it was possible to do an IMAX version of Star Wars in that style. After seeing Dune in IMAX I have warmed to the ratio.
Just bumping on the offchance that anyone knows if SSWR is okay.
I don’t like Return of the Jedi that much either but if Jedi copied TPM Chief Chirpa and Wicket would escape through the Imperial shield, attempt to meet up with the Rebel fleet to plead for help and get shot down over Tatooine. They help Luke rescue Han from Jabba and Leia convinces the fleet to attack the Death Star. Wicket confesses to actually being Chief Chirpa in disguise. Which foxes Lando who has inexplicably fallen in love with him. At the celebration ceremony one of the revelers is looking a bit Snoke shaped and is smiling sinisterly at Han and Leia clearly in love. Actually a better film.
Replace the 20th century Fox fanfare with that alien yak thing farting in Jar-Jar’s face.
I think they should take a leaf out of the Rogue One book and do a film about the Bothans obtaining the location of the second Death Star and have the Emperor and his underlings scheming to let them get away but not too easily. Many Bothans will die😢. Some characters from Andor and Rebels could appear. But new characters we don’t know of too. I’d rewrite canon so this Death Star was started around the same time as the first. And that it’s the one we saw in Revenge of the Sith. The first Death Star being a Separatist weapon completed by the Empire and the second being a Republic version built using the plans Dooku gave Sidious. This will explain why it took so long to build one but the other was almost finished a few years later.
See Threepio in the prequels speaks with a Jamaican accent and only adopts the fussy butler persona after his memory is wiped in Episode 3 when his memory is wiped again in episode 9 the accent comes back.
