Rate 'The Last Jedi' (NO SPOILERS) (was: Rate TFA (NO SPOILERS))

I went into TFA with incredibly low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Not blown away by any means, but pleasantly surprised. It definitely has some flaws, most of which are related to its being overly derivative and containing just a smidgeon too much self-aware fan service. But all that being acknowledged, it was still a fun, spirited, and enjoyable movie. Best of all, it actually felt like a real Star Wars movie. First time that’s happened in thirty-two years.

In the meantime I'm weirdly fascinated by the different reactions out there, especially my favorite crackpot blog, the Prequel Appreciation Society...

Oh, wow. This is a thing?

Glancing through their website, I came across the following choice entry:

I love the prequels because they’re wonderfully made, have gorgeous imagery and sound, great storyline and fascinating characters, deep and complicated. The prequels offer a widest range of feelings and thoughts to the viewer, make you cry and laugh from joy, open your eyes to things you could never imagine without them.

The prequels enrich the saga and the whole cinematography with new situations, possibilities, choices, new levels of wisdom that unites different lands and times, new multiple colors to the kaleidoscopic variety of life that is reflected in the saga, the variety that reaches harmony in the saga taken as a whole.

I love the prequels because they’re a part of the saga that changed my life for the better, that makes me feel like I have wings. The saga that would be lacking something essential without any of its episodes.

I have no words.

I am not sure what your you mean, https is a secure protocol.  I shared a folder to anyone with the link.  Could you please explain to me what you mean by this?

Somehow I missed this post.  The forum software doesn't like the "s" because the forum software is older than I am.

 That's not true! That's impossible!

 wut?

I think the phrase ABOMINATIONSABER was being thrown around to convey geekrage about the Sith crossguard lightsaber.  Doesn't bother me.

Does anyone remember outrage about Darth Maul's double ended saber?  It seems like any new thing can get some rage going.

Not to split hairs, but Exar Kun had a double-bladed lightsaber several years before the PT was a thing...

Update on recent troll and sock puppet activity

Ric was an entertaining sock because he seemed to have a personality of his own, like a good ventriloquist's dummy.  Other socks achieved this in the short term, but Ric remained amusing in the long term, partly because we all knew that he was a sock who wouldn't be overused or used negatively: it was a running joke.  The fact that Frink was allowed him for this reason (and because he slipped through the net) made the forum a brighter place.  It's a shame that he was a casualty of the recent activity, and I would respectfully ask that he be reinstated.

^Seconded.
